I know what I'll do. If I just act like I did nothing wrong or more specifically act like I love her with my whole heart and just talk to her like normal maybe I can make up for what I did. I know actions speak louder than words so maybe saying sorry wouldn't be enough. If Nova were here she would say: "You quoted a One Direction song from their debut album."
Well you know what Nova, Harry Styles and them are smart even though they didn't make up that phrase. Maybe I'll ask her on a date. There's not really much to do here so it wouldn't be anything big. Ria also gets flustered pretty easily when she's by herself with one other person, even if that one person is her own girlfriend. What if I bring another person? It wouldn't necessarily be a date but we'd still spend time together.
I could ask Nova if she wants to come or even Matthew. That actually wouldn't work because Nova's parents probably won't let her and Matthew's mom probably doesn't want to pick him up. But that is okay because I have other friends. I just have to find one that would want to come and gets along with Ria.
I'll figure that out later. I have the rest of school to figure it out. In the meantime I should probably listen to whatever Vada is talking about. Ria always arrives late so we're waiting for her in front of the gym doors.
Ria comes in not looking very- joyful. Who would? It's 8:00AM on a Monday morning, I'm not all that joyful either. I hope she doesn't think I'm upset with her. I walk up to her and say good morning. At first she looks a but confused but the look on her face quickly softens and she says good morning back.
Great start. Great start.
We all head towards her locker like normal. Usually we get to talk for like fifteen minutes before a teacher comes and sends us to our homerooms but we don't even get to do that. Ms. O comes up and tells me and everyone else (excluding Ria) to get to our homerooms.
I don't see Ria until gym so seems like a better time to ask than any other. I ask her if she's free after school and she says I don't know. I should've expected that. I ask if after school she wants to go to the park that's about a quarter mile from the school and she says if her parents let her. Which is reasonable. I ask her after if she wants someone else to come along to make it less awkward. She says sure but doesn't tell me who she wants to come with which puts dent in my plans. Because I don't know either!
After gym class and Ria and I are heading to the locker rooms, Callum White comes up to Ria and tells her he has a crush on her. What the fuck. Keep in mind Callum isn't that great of a person either. He's your typical homophobic, country, and terrible taste in clothing popular kid. In class he once said "I wish they still burned gays" that made me so angry.
He's not worth my anger though. Anyways Ria just stares blankly at him and tells him she has a girlfriend. If Nova were here she'd probably say something along the lines of "AS YOU FUCKING SHOULD."
Callum then makes a big deal out of it as if gays don't exist. Well in this yeehaw state they don't appear often. He says in the most dragged and exaggerated voice: "You have a GIRLfriend?!" Ria just gives him a look and walks around him to enter the locker rooms. When we get in we look at each other and start laughing but we quickly shut up so the scary sevies don't look at us.
My friend Kayla Woods comes up to us and shakes my shoulders and asks why Callum was talking to Ria. I say I'll tell her later. She asks if I can tell her after school. So she's free after school? Last time I checked, Ria doesn't hate her. I could ask if she wants to come.
