Chapter 15: Rivals

It was a Saturday morning and I woke up earlier than most days. With nothing else to do, I decided to have a little run around the prefecture and I also left a little note in front of the door of my sister's room since I didn't want what happened last time to happen again.

As I was running around, I noticed a few people were up as well and some of them were preparing their stalls at the market.

I saw a familiar face around the park and headed towards him and another person, it seems as if they were arguing about something.

Y/N: "Ushijima, you're up early."

Ushijima: "Why wouldn't I be, I do this every morning."

Y/N: "Is that so, good for you. And you are?"

I asked the other tall guy with whom he was talking with until a while ago.

Oikawa: "Oikawa. Tohru Oikawa from Aoba Johsai and I take it you know this guy."

Y/N: "So you're the one I've heard about a lot, my sister talked about you a lot too you know. Where are my manners.... I'm Y/N. Y/N L/N from Karasuno."

Oikawa: "I've heard about you too, the No. 2 Outside Hitter in Japan. Must be nice having such a title, and you have a sister? Who might she be."

Y/N: "Tall girl with pink-ish hair."

Oikawa: "Oh the cute one, I like her a lot."

Y/N: "Glad to hear, did I interrupt something?"

Ushijima: "Not really, I was making points in what would have happened if he went to Shiratorizawa instead of Seijoh, the same goes for you Y/N, it's still not late to switch schools."

Oikawa: "Again with that, it's my choice and I already decided that."

Y/N: "Really? That again, look I've already made my choice just as he said so stop it with that."

Oikawa/ Y/N: 'I like this guy.'

Ushijima: "If that's your response than I won't insist anymore, though the offer is still open for you Y/N."

Y/N: "Yeah yeah whatever, I won't change my choice anyway."

Ushijima then took a glance at his watch and told us that he was going to be late for practice if this went on so he left both of us.

Oikawa: "So, he asks you that too huh?"

Y/N: "Yeah, ever since I came to Miyagi he kept bugging me about that."

Oikawa: "Why don't you come to Seijoh instead, we need a strong spiked anyway."

Y/N: "Jeez, not you too." He sighs exhausted about the conversation.

Oikawa: "Calm down, that was just a joke."

Y/N: "Okay then. About my sister, do you really like her."

A small blush crept up to Oikawa's face as he was asked the question.

Oikawa: "Y- yeah she's c- cute and all, was I stuttering."

Y/N: "You just stuttered y'know. Let's ignore that, are you willing to treat her well and care for her."

Oikawa: "Of course, I can do all that."

Y/N: "If so then I will allow you to date her, but if you cheat on her or do anything related to that I will rip you apart. Got that?" He said in such an intimidating tone that he scared the crap out of Oikawa.

A sad but pleasant memory came to his mind after he said that.

Flashback

S/N was a first year high schooler and she got cheated on by his former boyfriend and was crying in her room.

Y/N who was still a second year in junior high didn't quite understand why she was crying, all he knew was that he must make her beloved sister stop crying. He went inside her room and tapped on the her shoulder who was sitting in her bed with her knees next to her chest.

She was surprised to see her brother and quickly wiped her tears away.

S/N: "N/N? What are you doing here..?" She asked, confused by her brother's presence.

Young Y/N: "Onee-chan is crying, I don't like seeing you cry. I like seeing Onee-chan smiling. So please, stop crying." He told her and hugged his sister.

S/N hugged him back and stroked his hair.

S/N: "If N/N doesn't want me to cry, then I won't."

Y/N: "Why were you crying anyway?" He asked her.

S/N: "Well you see, a bad man broke Onee-chan's heart."

Y/N: "Then I'll fix it for you, I'll protect Onee-chan from bad people like him."

S/N: "Thank you very much, Y/N. You're the best brother ever." She said and started to cry again.

But those weren't tears of sadness, they were tears of joy.

Y/N: "And Onee-chan is the best sister ever. I'll always protect her!"

Flashback End

Oikawa: 'What's with his intimidating aura... it's scaring me...'  "S- sure I won't do anything like that. I promise. Hey are you okay you're spacing."

Y/N: "It's nothing, I just remembered something."

I also looked at my watch and noticed that it was getting late.

Y/N: "I'm going home, it's getting late. See you later Oikawa Tohru, I won't go easy on you when we play."

Oikawa: "Bye, but the same goes for you too Y/N L/N, I will come at you with all I have."

The former left the park and Oikawa was still jogging around in it.

Y/N: "I'm back!"

S/N: "Ah, you're right in time I just finished preparing breakfast, wash your hands and let's eat."

The boy did as he was told and sat down at the the table with his sister.

S/N: "You were up really early this morning, did anything interesting happen."

Y/N: "Not really, it's the same as usual."

He lied about what happened in the morning as he wanted to surprise her about that.

S/N: "You have to leave at midnight tomorrow right?"

Y/N: "Yeah, I have to leave with the club to Saitama for the practice camp again."

S/N: "Well then, you'll have to start preparing for tomorrow won't you."

Y/N: "Yeah, I almost forgot about that."

S/N: "I'm going shopping today and why don't you come with me, we'll buy some necessities for you as well."

Y/N: "Sure I'd love to come with you."

He didn't know what was to come as he never went shopping with a girl before. But unlike most boys he didn't mind carrying the bags, maybe because it was his sister or one of his loved ones.
