What actually happened the night before
Suga: "Say, daichi."
Daichi responded with a simple "yeah?"
Suga: "Is it really okay to just leave Tsukishima to his own devices?"
Daichi: "...If we forced him into it, it wouldn't be self-practice."
Suga: "That's true, but..."
Silence soon followed for a short second till Daichi spoke again breaking the silence.
Daichi: "Since that first 3-on-3 match, I haven't been all that worried about him. I don't know what's going through his mind, but we're all still at an excellent stage in our growth, and there's no way of telling"the limits of our abilities." Even if you've felt such a thing, you still can't help but aim for the top. There's no rhyme or reason behind it, though."
Sugawara and the others couldn't help but feel relieved from the words Daichi said.
Suga/ Tanaka: "Definitely/ Got that right!"
Daichi: "Still, on the off chance that Tsukishima decides to quit, I'll need to convince him otherwise in a hurry, so help me out if it comes to that, okay?"

Y/N's POV
"Oya?"
I said."Oya oya?" Bokuto continued.
"Oya oya oya?" And Kuroo also continued.
A few "oya's" later Tsukishima spoke up.
Tsukki: "...There is something I'd like to ask you. May I?"
"Sure!" We all replied together.
Tsukki: "Sorry for interrupting, and thank you. Your teams are both moderately strong, right? Even if you were able to make it to the nationals, it would certainly be difficult to court out on top, right?" He asked them
Kuroo and Bokuto seemed to be pissed of by his question.
Kuroo: "Geh. Pretty much!"
Bokuto: "It's not like it's impossible!!"
They responded.
"Calm down and let's hear him out. He's talking hypothetically, you know."
I told them.Tsukishima: "I'm genuinely curious. Why would you go to such lengths? Volleyball is only a club, so about the only merit in it is being able to write "I worked hard in club activities during my student years" in a future memoir, right?"
Bokuto: "..."solely a club" kinda sounds like it could be someone's name..." He pointed out.
Kuroo: "Ooh...! I get it Solia K. Rabu!" He said continuing Bokuto's statement.
Why am I here with these two again... Oh right I was practicing with them.
Kuroo: "No! Wait, that doesn't work! He said only a club! Not solely!" He shouted which hurts my ears a bit.
Bokuto: "Gyaah?! Oh man, he did! You can't make a name outta that! So close!" He also shouted.
"Oi! You're getting off topic here."
I told them.Tsukishima: "Should I be making a retort to that?" He asked Akaashi who was silent the whole time.
Akaashi: "Go ahead. They'll keep this up indefinitely otherwise." He replied.
Bokuto: "Oh! Say, Megane-kun!" He tried calling Tsukki.
Tsukishima: "My name is Tsukishima..."
Bokuto: "Say, Tsukishima-kun!" He said again.
"Do you enjoy playing volleyball?" Bokuto asked Tsukki.
Tsukishima paused for a while, thinking, I suppose.
Tsukishima: "...Well... Not particularly..." He answered.
Bokuto: "Isn't that because you suck at it?" He asked him.
Tsukishima-kun looks slightly pissed by what he said.
Bokuto: "Well, I've gone to the nationals for 3 years and I'm absolutely, positively better at this than you!" He boasted.
Tsukishima: "I know that even without you telling me." He replied.
Bokuto: "But it was only recently that I started to think volleyball was "enjoyable. And that's because my "straight spike" became usable in actual matches." He said waving his hand in a spiking motion.
"The cross spike that was originally my specialty kept getting stopped cold. It was so damn frustrating, so I kept practicing my straight spike, and then, in the next competition, those same opponents who'd blocked me before couldn't even touch the straight I drove past them." He continued.
"With that one hit, it felt like "my time had come"!! He cheered.
"It's a matter of whether "that moment" exists for you or not. What will happen in the future and whether or not you can win the next match... For one, none of that matters. Crushing the guys in front of you, and that amazing feeling of having shown 120% of your strength, are everything." He smiled at Tsukishima.
"..............."
"...Well that's just my case, it's not like it would apply to everyone. That whole "only a club" thing you were saying doesn't really mean anything to me, but I don't think it's wrong. Still, If you experience that moment, It'll really get you hooked on to volleyball." He finished his speech.
Tsukishima seemed to moved by it and I was too if I'm being honest.
"That was a nice speech Bokuto-san but if you don't mind, let's get back to training."
I told Bokuto, breaking the silence.Bokuto: "Oh! Sure! I completely forgot that we were training." He simply laughed it off.
To be continued
