Grey Morrison
Everest City Train Railway (Public Square)"-Morrison! Mr. Morrison! Can you hear my voice!". A stranger's dialogue echoed in my ears. Their muffled shouts were battling for my attention with various other sounds around me. I could make out blaring sirens and raging flames. No doubt the outcome of our actions.
I was laying down, face up. The cold November air danced on my face. With my eyes wide open, I saw the blurred sunshine and clouds above. A silhouette of a person was over me. The more seconds that went by the more things began to clear.
The face of a young, gentle looking man leaned over me, with a worried expression on his face. He had short, brown and curly hair and wore a red uniform. "A paramedic?", I thought to myself. Sure enough, he was one. Right beside him he had a first aid kit as well as some other medical instrument. Both of his hands where on my chest, balled up near the center.
...Was I just CPRed?
I quickly jumped up, feeling both uncomfortable and shocked. "What happened?", I asked, checking my surroundings. Dozens of other emergency responders were nearby, tending to other civilians. There was a lot ambulances around. I counted like a fleet of at least ten of them. The chaotic nature they had parked them led me to believe that some great disaster was unfolding.
"You don't remember? The train crashed. It's literally just down the street", he pointed behind me. This second he mentioned the train a flash of relation slapped me. It was as if I had just woken up. So and I were on top of a train, battling Corpus bots. Some crazy looking one showed up and started handing us our behinds. I turned around and saw the outcome.
The train had completely derailed. The first two cars were lodged into the building to the left. The second was barely hanging onto the first. The other train cars had crashed down. The railings and support beams were completely destroyed. A terrible fire had begun consuming the area around the wreck. "Jeez", I thought. "I missed a lot".
I took a few steps forward, towards the wreckage. Where was Sin? A few more steps forward and I accidentally kicked something. A black duffel bag: Sin's bag. With great haste, I leaned over and picked it up. "Mr. Morrison, I advise not going that way. You should come with me to get checked", the medic chimed in. I slung the bag over my shoulder and responded calmly to the guy. "Thanks, but my friend needs my help and I'm kinda on the run".
A moment after I said that, I felt the bag move. "Crap. I had completely forgotten that Lux and Echo were in here". I opened the bag up a tiny bit, just to check up on them. The two drones peered out the small opening, letting out some strange electronic tones. Not sure what it meant but surely they were both scared and worried. "Not to worry you two. We'll find Sin and be on our way". I resealed the bag and started heading towards the accident site
"Mr. Morrison! Mr. Morrison!", The paramedic guy kept calling. Not much I could do except wave him off. "Don't wanna be a jerk. I know he's just trying to help me out, but if I stay to get some I'll no doubt be swarmed by the news, let alone Corpus' machines".
Speaking of which, there weren't any around. Usually, when there's some big accident Copyoids come out to assist the first responders. As I looked on at the disaster, not a single one was here to help. Even that one that attacked us on the train. "Something's going on". The closer I got, the more grim the scenario was. Lots of bodies on the ground as well as paramedics rushing back and forth, trying to help out anyone and everyone.
A firefighter team worked tirelessly to quell the growing flames. I felt guilty. Knowing that I had a part in this disaster made me feel sick. I walked by an injured person who was being patched up. He had his left eye bandaged. With his one remaining eye, glared into my soul. I noticed that many people were giving me looks. "He's the one that helped cause this", I heard someone say. I simply looked down. Although I want the main culprit, they were right. "Just need to find Sin and everything will be okay". My only choice now was to reassure myself.
