Reach Academy"...and then the United States declares war on Russia and its allies in the year of 2023, leading to the infamous Third World War. Many historians believe this conflict to be the start of the New Era as well". Mr. Edmonds rambled on about boring history. This class was always a buzz kill, but today felt way more off than usual. I guess I was still recovering from the events that happened Wednesday.
Only two days ago, some of us were invited to the first Technology Expo at Corpus Industries. It was sick as hell being the first to see all of the cool, nerdy stuff. And I don't get me started on the girls. Some of the woman that were there to "assist" the scientists in demonstrating their works were the real works of art. I'm sure the only reason they were there was to attract people to the displays. Worked like a charm too.
That wasn't the best part though. Halfway through the Expo, Grey and that new guy disappeared. At first, I thought Grey lured him to an isolated spot for some "friendly activities". I've heard that he was quite adventurous, but I wasn't sure Sinclair was into that stuff. Anyways, none of that mattered since it didn't seem to be true. It was great for me since Sinclair wasn't there to take Blythe's attention from me. What did ended up happening was way more interesting.
Some kind of power outage rocked the whole section of the building we were in. Faint tremors also erupted near where the Expo center was. I was in the middle of winning Blythe back but they had begun to evacuate us all. It was like a warzone. Well, not exactly, but to me it was. They had us waiting for three hours outside until they figured out what happened. Both Grey and Sinclair have been missing since.
Mr. Edmonds was still talking about the main events that took place in the old world. Like I said before, I wasn't the biggest fan of history, but Blythe was. She would normally sit up straight and meticulously jot down notes. But she wasn't here today. She hadn't been going to any of her classes at all. She sat only a few seats away from me to the right. Her seat was empty and I couldn't help but feel a little lonely at time. I know Blythe and me weren't in the best of terms, but I still enjoyed her company. Yes, I missed being with my ex, so what?
"Ok class, that'll be all for this lecture. Make sure that you guys read the next chapter before the next class. And remember, if you have any information about the whereabouts of Grey Morrison make sure to let the authorities know. That is all". Mr. Edmonds dismissed the class, and everyone began to move out. "Finally. Last class for the week. Now time to relax until Monday", I thought. And what better way to relax than to check up on Blythe? I had heard from the grapevine that she had been staying in her room the past couple of days.
I gathered all of my belongings and put them into my single strap backpack. "Yo Call! You wanna go hit up the malt shop with us?", one of my "friends" asked. A guy with a dark skin color was the one to ask me that. I didn't remember his name, nor why he and his other cronies thought I was there friend. Everyone here acted as if they were my friend, but I could tell fake friendship from the real deal. "Sorry guy. I'm gonna be busy today. I'm gonna check up on someone. The guy rolled his eyes. "Seriously Call? You're gonna go check in on that nerdy girl? There's way better options out there. Don't know why you'd settle with someone like her". Hearing him say that pissed me off. I grabbed my things and simply left. I didn't have the patience to deal with these types.
I got out of the building and headed for the girls dormitories. It was gonna be a long walk, but I knew a quick way there using shortcuts. Why did I know these paths? Let's just say I've made plenty of trips to go rendezvous with woman there. I began to my journey there. A lot of people wanted to see what I was up to though.
