Sinclair
Corpus Industries' Lower LevelsWe moved ahead hastily. This new corridor was the exact opposite of the white paneled halls of the upper floors. There were black walls and super bright lights beaming down on us. Soon though, the lights turned red, and a loud alarm started blaring. All the way at the end of the path, the floors began to open up, and four Copyoids rose up. They were ready to fire, but I was ready to counterattack at any given moment. As soon as I got near them, I jumped to the side, towards the wall. The four of them took aim at me, taking their attention away from Grey and my assist drones
I jumped into the air, and using said wall, jumped off of it and used the momentum to spin rapidly like a top. Holding the blade outward, the rapid twist made quick work of the four machines standing in our way. I landed at the center of where they once stood just as I had practiced endlessly back home.
"Whoa. That was pretty cool Sin. How'd you do that? And what's up with your arms?", Grey asked me. I got up from the rather strange pose I had caught myself in. "There's no time for chit chat Grey. The facility has been notified of our intrusion". He rolled his eyes at me. "Okay okay. Let's get a move on then".
He was unexpectedly calm and rational. He didn't really seem bothered not disturbed at the events that were occuring. He did realize that what I was about to do would probably ruin the company his dad and millions of others worked for. The unemployment levels would shoot off the charts. In fact, he looked as if he enjoyed himself. What a strange lad.
We pressed on further into the this secret area. I knew for a fact that they were hiding things down here. My many years of investigation would finally pay off and I would finally avenge the people I had lost because of this corporation.
"Sin! Behind us!". Grey had warned me of enemies chasing behind us. "Damn it. I must have been distracted by my own thoughts to have not noticed", I said to myself. I turned around to examine the the new threats. Two Copyoids were running at us. The way their mechanical bodies moved and shook as they ran was a frightening sight to behold. The way they mimicked human motion was the uncanny type of scary. Perhaps that was why they were called Copyoids.
They were fixated on us, moreso me since I was the more viable threat. Their red eyes perfectly lit the darkened halls into a menacing red glow. The whole atmosphere was dark and dangerous, a thing I was quite used to at this point.
"Go ahead of me Grey. I'll be right behind you", I commanded. The machines weren't too far away, but there was ample space between us. If I placed Grey in front, then I could defend our backs as we progressed. "But what if some appear in front of us?". I pushed him forward harshly. "Does not matter right now. Just get going". I shoved him forward, and my drones hovered behind him. "We're so screwed", Echo commented. "Do not say that. I will make sure that we make it", I responded to my little Pod.
With Grey now navigating where we went, I had more time to focus on combat. Of course, he didn't know where to go. I didn't know either, but it was better that he never found that out. "Are they still behind us?", he asked without turning around. "Yes, but don't worry. I'll handle them". I used the blade to block any shots fired our way. The sounds of the plasma and my blade clashing was a very delicious sound. It was alien and smooth, and with a hint of a wiry texture. This was definitely a new sound.
The two machines soon became six, and there would probably be more incoming. At this point, I realized how much of a liability Grey was. He was just a massive target that could easily be shot at by anyone. That and the fact that he had no way of protecting himself meant that I had another being to worry about, besides my two support drones. I knew I had to give him something, like maybe defensive equipment. That's when I remembered: I did have a bag full of equipment. And I had just the thing for this situation.
