Sinclair ???
Corpus Industries DistrictHow did I end up in this situation? Both Blythe and Grey fell asleep on my shoulders. I felt like a like a caretaker for two little children. The book that Blythe and I were reading sat face down in my lap. It was an interesting read at first, but then the romance plot ruined it all. I could've finished it, but because she fell asleep. It would be rude to continue without her.
This certainly beat what I was doing before though. Wandering around aimlessly at that gargantuan school for starters, wasn't fun at all. However, it was still an important event that took place. Meeting Grey, the son of Dr. Morrison, would give me the opportunity to get into Corpus Industries.
I've been exploring this entire city for a whole week, not knowing what to do, or where to go. I thought I had a clear goal when I arrived in Everest, but that changed that night at the burger place. What happened at the Greasy Stack changed my mission.
I never expected something like that to happen. I also never thought I would have to expose my, abilities. Thankfully, no one was around to see it. It was lucky that that place was pretty isolated from the rest of the district. I was pretty much witnessed by no one. Well, except the three of the people on the restaurant of course. Strangely enough, they didn't seem to have mentioned me in any interview nor side comment. Why? Still, it was good for me. That wasn't the time to show the world of my existence. When I chased down the shooter and found out it was a reprogrammed machine; One of those Copyoids. It didn't look like a previous model though. It was an obvious upgraded version: The Mk. III. I couldn't get that scenario out of my head. Who was trying to assassinate Dr. Morrison?
I looked in my bag and noticed that Null, Echo, and Lux were all on rest mode. Everyone was resting up, I felt kinda jealous. The soft snores that Blythe made hypnotized me. Something about the rhythmic sound of sleeping put me into a comatose state. It had been a while since I got some sleep. Maybe since that night at the Greasy Stack. Grey fell asleep with his headphones in. I could hear the faint sound of his music playing. It sounded like rock music, but I was only seventy percent sure. I wasn't too big into music. To me, it was all just noise that disrupted my concentration. But I digress.
I thought about telling Grey about the situation, but I was not sure. Would he believe what I told him? Maybe it was best that I kept this to myself and perhaps I could tell him after I investigate more. After all, that's why I decided to sneak into this trip. Investigation and other reasons that is.
We were nearing the main building of the great "Corpus Empire". The caravan of buses already entered the district half an hour ago, but the destination was at the center of this pristine marvel. All of the buildings were tall and shaped uniformly. These rectangular monoliths towered to the skies, piercing the heavens like it was nothing. To the surprise of many, these were just buildings for workers to live in. Sure, there were smaller buildings that could be seen from where we were, but their purpose wasn't known to the public.
The main edifce was off in the distance, fortified by an alarming amount of security. The Corpus Industries' main building was the world's first mega structure, being the size of an old world city. More specifically, it was about the size of the now long gone New York City, which put into scope how large the building was. It's rectangular shape helped it carry it's own weight, which I assume was almost the same as a small mountain range. It wasn't considered a skyscraper by any means, but it was still gigantic. It reminded me of a castle to be blunt. A castle built to hide dark secrets inside.
