Grey Morrison
Everest City: BCP Building"So you guys are just gonna let me go back to school?. That seems too good to be true", I said to the man. Emile, who was standing at the foot of my bed, smiled a little and replied. "That's what I said. You're totally off the hook. Your friend however is another story". He swiftly looked at the bedstand and made sure that his little interference device was active. "Unfortunately, Sinclair was taken under my nose and handed to Corpus Industries. It seems that the good doctor has some plans for him".
I clenched my fists in anger. "You said that we would both be fine". He could sense my disdain for the situation. "Despite what you think, I don't have many allies in the Peacekeepers. I was practically the only one trying to keep both of you as safe as possible. So sorry, for what it's worth". His apology was sincere. I could just tell somehow. "Anyways, he has a better chance of escaping by himself than you do", he added. While his statement was true it didn't soften the idea that Sinclair was probably gonna get tortured and experimented on. He was gonna need my help.
"So are they not interested in me? I mean after all, I got injected with some experimental juice. Don't they want to see what I can do?". "It is bizzare that they're gonna let you loose in the public without knowing your full capabilities. Nonetheless, orders are others. Even if they're stupid". Emile grew uncharacteristically serious. "I'll try my best to help him Grey. I did promise you that I'd keep you both safe".
I laid there in the bed and stared blankly at the cieling. It must have been around seven in the morning when Emile barged in to tell me the news. I was shocked and angry. Why did I get to go Scott free? Was it because my father was the famous Dr. Morrison? Did I just have that privilege? I thought about what they would do to Sin as well. He was strong sure but very prone to grow tired quickly. There was a term in fiction that Blythe described characters with these physical attributes with. They were called Glass Cannons.
"What do you think they're gonna go to him?", I questioned. With the same seriousness from before, he replied. "I have no clue. They may dissect him or but him through some battle simulations. They'll find some way to bolster their own forces if they study the Arma long enough". To bolster Copyoids using Arma battle data? That sounded dangerous. "And what about my father's expedition? What's gonna come out of that?".
Emile raised his left hand and scratched his bare chin. He paused to think about it, since I'm sure he didn't know much about that situation either. "If he finds other Armas or any significant data in that city then my guess is that they'll try to repurpose or recreate them. The Armas that is". Hearing that woke me up entirely. I mean, it was the most logical conclusion to him going there. But I didn't want to believe it. My dad couldn't do that, right?
I hopped off the bed and rubbed my face. My body felt gross and sweaty. It had been days since I showered. "Is there a place for me to wash? Or take a quick shower more like? Emile nodded and smiled again. "Definitely. I'll even get you a new pair of clothes too". He approached the exit and motioned for me to follow him.
The shower wasn't that fair from where my room was. In fact, my room was in a rather normal looking hall. I thought I was incarcerated in a dungeon like space, but this was more like a dormitory hallway. Other rooms were down this hall. Maybe about eight in total. And the bathroom was way at the end. The halls themselves were made of a nice, smooth wood finish. The floors were made of a different hardwood flooring, being a tad darker than the walls. But every time we took steps we made loud thuds as we walked.
"It's kinda quiet and cozy for being a Peacekeeper's station, don't ya think?". Emile chuckled and explained. "It was a small orphanage before actually. However it was bought out and then sold to us". "And what happened to the kids that lived here?". He looked back and shrugged. "I don't know". "Well where's everyone else? I have yet to see or hear anyone else". He grinned and pointed towards the end of the path. "You'll see".
