I make my way to the library and pass Snape. He looks worse then usual and he definitely is limping. Suspicious. I try to think of a possible way to strike up a conversation with him, but before I can think he's gone and he seems to be in quite a hurry. "Why?" I think to myself. "Is he going to the stone?". I shrug my shoulders and force myself to forget about him for now. I have studying to do.
I walk into the library to see Draco and Blaise sitting at the far end of the library talking full volume, clearly not caring that the library is meant to be a quiet place for people to relax and read.
I roll my eyes and they see me.
"This is the library guys, not the common room", I say sitting down abruptly on the remaining chair across from them.
"Good evening to you too", Blaise begins.
"We are perfectly entitled to speak however loud we want. I don't give a f-."
"DRACO!" I shout. I hear a wave of shushes hit me and I curse myself in my head.
"Merlins beard (Y/N)! Didn't you hear? This is a library. Not a common room!", Blaise mocks me and Draco throws his head back and laughs.
"Wow okay. You see this is why you're failing potions Blaise." I give him a sassy look and he returns it.
"Excuse me. I am not failing. I'm suffering. And that one hurt". He places a hand over his heart and pretends to weep.
Draco fake comforts him and pretends to dry his tears with his cloak.
"Here here Blaise, it's not your fault (Y/N) is such a suck up", Draco starts.
I open my mouth to shout again but stop myself before I can. This is the library after all.
"Thank you Draco. Thank you my friend. You're too good to me".
They're making an absolute scene now. Blaise has his head in Draco's lap and Draco is screaming insults to me while Blaise weeps.
"Okay are you two done cuddling so we can actually study", I sigh.
"(Y/N) I'm really not a fan of this new attitude", Draco gives me a disapproving look like he's a teacher and I've just spoken out of turn. I try my best not to laugh. We didn't really get much study done that evening if I'm honest but we grew a lot closer. Blaise told us about his family and how his Mom didn't live with them anymore. Draco talked of the Malfoy Manor and how he was actually quite terrified of his father. I confessed that my parents were always going to secret meetings and I told them about how when I asked about it they got angry with me.
"That's weird. Sometimes Dad goes away for a while and he always tells me he's going to some important work meeting. I've never really give it much thought though".
Draco looks quite confused.
"My parents go to those secret meetings too. They go away and tell me it's for business but I know it's not because they don't work together".
I look down.
"You don't think, they're going to these meetings together do you?" I suggest.
"Why would they?", Blaise asks.
"She has a point. I mean. It's a bit suspicious. We can't know for sure though", Draco adds.
"Next time we're home. Track what time they go to the meeting. Then we compare times and if they go at the same time we have our answer". I exclaim.
"That could work". Blaise said.
"Or we could just try asking them if they know each other's parents?". I say.
"Both. We'll do both.". Draco decides suddenly.
"No way am I asking my father". Blaise says leaning away from the table.
"Me neither. Not a chance.", Draco and Blaise's eyes avert to me and I groan.
"Fine, fine okay. I'll do it. But you better be tracking when they go because if not I will be very very mad", I say sternly.
"You're always mad". Draco grins and I roll my eyes.
"You guys make me mad. Not my fault".
"Blaming us again Draco", Blaise starts.
"She never stops".So we had a plan. We talked for ages just like that. The conversation flowed nicely and Draco and Blaise bantered off each other while I listened painfully.
Part of me wanted to mention the conversation I had earlier with the trio and confide in them about the stone but I couldn't bring myself to. I needed to keep this a secret for them and for myself. I could even endanger them by telling them. I didn't know how deep this was at all. I had a bad feeling about the stone though. I especially can't tell them I'm now spying on Professor Snape whom they both consider their favourite teacher. No, I'll keep it to myself. When this is all over maybe I'll tell them. They'll understand. Sometimes secrets are good. Sometimes certain things have to remain secret.
