Chapter 17
I sighed.
Blaze moved around underneath me. I giggled as he rolled over crushing me lightly against the ground then popping back up.
He let out a squawk and I jumped off him.
The Narnians were all getting ready, it was 3:30 pm.
We would all leave at 4, then Edmund's regiment would come later, about 10 minutes later. I couldn't wait.
As Blaze pressed me against his wing,I grappled with it. Trying to get his wing off my chest, I laughed butting it aside and he rolled over dramatically.
Henry walked over his blade in front, he coaxed it around and I unsheathed mine with a smirk.
"Think you can beat me, eh?" I giggled, closing an eye for effect.
"I know I can." Henry grinned.
"Let's see it then." I mock hissed, pulling back my sword and positioned it above his chin.
He spun around, catching the end of my sword in mid-air. He flicked it up, my sword sliding out of my hands. It landed on the ground with a thud, I grinned.
"Looks like someone's been practicing.." I trailed off, as I heard the horn blow.
I felt myself launch into an instinctive state, and I jumped onto Blaze, gliding over to Rilian and the troop.
---
I rode Blaze to the top of an overhanging cliff. The only thing visible was the valley of Ginian soldiers below. They marched back and forth on the vast stretch of land. It was lush and thick, sad to think it would soon be trampled and covered in blood.
I held Blaze far back enough so his wings were not visible to those in the valley. Blaze held his breath as I pulled back on the reigns just a bit more to keep him stable.
Rilian and the regiment were hidden underneath the thick undergrowth surrounding the valley. My duty was to kill the one who would sound the Ginian call, in case of attack.
I already had him in sight and I waited for the signal, a growing anxiety welling up in me.
Lydia and Peter's regiment should already be fighting the other Ginian patrol, while Caspian and Edmund's regiment would be waiting for the suprise call to take on the third group of Ginians that would show up in battle after both patrols were attacked.
It should be an easy win...then why was I doubting myself?
I heard a screech, and several Narnian soldiers burst into the valley and Rilian rode in in front of them. I dove down and Blaze knocked into the Ginian soldier holding a horn to his lips to call for help.
I dove off him, rolling onto the ground, I kicked back, threatening anyone who tried to attack me.
I spun onto my feet and unsheathed two swords.
Several soldiers turned on me and I swung my swords around my body, cutting one above the chin.
One ran at me but I swung a leg over my head and knocked it into his head and threw one of my swords through a man.
He fell.
Rilian appeared on the other side of him, he was grappling with three men on him.
I jumped over and slit one man then brought the other to the ground with a swift motion.
Rilian finished them off, sweat beading down his forehead, his dark hair ruffling up as we jumped back into battle.
The Ginians were putting up quite a fight, but it didn't last long before the second regiment came scrambling into the valley, I saw Lydia fighting off the last of the Ginian shoulders had been facing before they launched to help us. We kept fighting...
