> You say "Hey Uzume, any of these familiar?"
"No, but I think they're part of some sort of... machine."
"What? What kind of machine?"
"I dunno, some sort of gun or something."
You remember. Back in the RCC, you had large guns called Arbalests. Rudimentary, but very effective. You don't expect an Arbalest to be in this building, since they were outphased in 2400, but you continue on with Uzume.
> You say "Say Uzume, what do you want to do when this Spire falls?"
"Well, I guess I could try to take over the world."
"World?"
"Yeah, world. Like a real one. Not like those stupid games."
"Games? Are you serious?"
You have no idea why she'd want to take over the world. She didn't seem like that kind of person.
"Oh yeah, those things. Those games. They're really boring. And they never end."
"So you mean to tell me you actually wanted to play one of those games?"
"Sure did."
The noxious sun shines through the walls, more intense than it ever was before. The air is thick with dust, and the ground covered in rocks. The only thing that breaks up the monotony is the occasional creaking of metal and machinery.
> You look for a stairway that leads up the spire.
"Let's go upstairs."
"Upstairs?"
"Yeah, I wanna explore this place a bit more."
"Okay, but how will we know if anything's dangerous up there?"
> You say "Since when have you ever questioned danger?"
"Because I've been playing video games my whole life, and I've always known danger exists. Why would I suddenly question it now?"
"Hmm..."
You head towards the stairs, which lead upwards.
> You walk up the stairs while holding Uzume's hand tightly.
You begin walking up the stairs, as you hold Uzume's hand tightly.
"It's okay," You whisper. "We'll be fine."
"Really?" She asks.
> You say "Probably. I can guarantee my safety, but I don't know about you. "
She nods her head.
"That's good."
You continue up the stairs, and eventually reach the top. You see a huge door, which opens up to a vast space filled with machines.
> You check for traps.
You quickly look around, and spot several small devices placed throughout the area. Some of them are hooked onto power lines, others are hidden in corners. There seems to be a lot of them though.
> You grab your EMP and disable electronic armaments nearby.
The traps fizzle, and eventually die down. You continue to examine the room with Uzume, who continues to stare at you.
"Hey...", Uzume asks
"Yeah?"
"Are we safe here?"
> You say "Maybe. Just continue to watch out for possible traps"
Uzume looks at you for a moment, and then heads back to the wall.
"Um... thanks."
"Don't mention it."
> You look for another staircase that leads up.
You search the room for another staircase leading up, but find none. You also notice that the floor has fallen apart, revealing a large hole in the center of the room.
> You say "Hey Uzume, I've been wondering... What does that staff of yours do?"
Uzume turns around, and smiles at you.
"I'm sorry, but I haven't told anyone yet. It's a secret."
You nod your head in agreement.
You can either do a layout scan, or you can wait until the sun goes down in case a shadow gimmick is involved in this Spire. Either way, you should be able to figure something out by then.
> You sit down on the floor.
You sit down on the floor, and relax.
After a few minutes, you hear a loud noise from above. A beam of light pierces through the sky, illuminating the entire Spire.
> You say "Hey Uzume... can I call you Uzu from now on?"
Uzume blushes slightly, and looks away.
"What?" You ask.
"Nothing!" She says quickly.
> You say "It just that Uzume is kinda long, so I wanted to have something shorter to call you, yknow."
Uzume blushes even further, and begins to blush harder.
"Uh... uhh...", she stutters.
> You say "I mean, I won't do it if you don' want me to."
"No! No, no, no! It's fine! Really!"
You smile at Uzume's shyness.
> You say "Alright then! It's settled. Thanks, Uzu!"
You couldn't find another staircase, so you decide to try again later.
A few hours later when you exit the spire to loot some of the soldier corpses, you come across a group of people standing outside the Spire. They're all dressed in black, and they're armed with various weapons.
> You look at the insignias on their clothes. It is a black sickle with a skull in the hook. You remember this insignia from your RCC training. These people were targets of the RCC once.
Name: The Black Hooks
Gender: Unknown (They wear black clothing)
Age: Unknown (Unknown, but they seem to be young teens)
Race: Human (Most likely)
Appearance: They're hooded, so you can't tell
> You say "What brings you here?"
They look at each other, and one of them speaks.
"We're looking for someone named Uzume."
