The Spire (POV)

Log 11

> You say "Hey Uzume, we should set up camp now. We don't know if the Moon is dangerous."

Uzume looks at the sky, her features clear once again. "Yeah, good idea. Set up camp here."

> You nod solemnly, and enter the tent with Uzu.

After the Shadow Guard died, you were able to relax. You and Uzu set up camp in front of the tent, watching as the moon continued to rise.

> You say "So Uzu, I guess the Moon really is the Shadow Guard's weakness, huh?"

Uzume giggles, and twirls around. "Yeah, the Shadow Guard can't stand the light. So we're good!"

> You say "Speaking of which, I think I've got an idea of what your staff does now."

"Oh? What's that?"

"Well, the light from the moon shines in all forms, right? So I figured you might have harnessed it. Mysterious. I'd like to find out more..."

The girl looks at you with intrigue.

Uzu smirks playfully, and bonks you softly on your head with your staff. "Don't worry, you will."

You look at her staff, unmoving... "Maybe I will."

> You contact your handler via comms device.

You switch to an open frequency. "This is Agent AT76 speaking. Is the mission still on?"

There's a pause. "Yes, you're to proceed with your mission. The RCC will provide support."

> You say "I see. I will make preparations to move to the next step. I might take a few months. No particular reason."

"Yes, proceed at your own pace. We'll be sending an operative to assist you in the near future."

"I see." You end the conversation.

You've conquered Phase 1.2b of the mission.

You wonder if this mission would've been faster if Uzu wasn't with you. Then again, this would've been a lot more boring without her. Plus, she can wield a staff just as well without the aid of magic.

> You say "Hey Uzu. Would you like to tell me about your past?"

The girl tilts her head, pondering the question. "I don't mind."

Sure enough, she begins to speak of her past. About when she was a baby being in an orphange.

> You say "That's odd. I thought you were born in the Desert?"

"I was."

"Then how did you end up in the orphanage?"

Uzu pauses, then points to the south.

> You say "What used to be there?"

"An ancient city."

You look in the direction she's pointing, and can barely make out a few scattered buildings... "I can't see anything."

"It was hidden by sand."

> You say "I see. But I'm pretty sure that used to be a Devourer factory. That's weird"

"What happened to it?"

"I don't know. I was actually told that the RCC acquired it after complete destruction."

Uzu shrugs her shoulders.

> You say "I would know. After all, I was one of the people who destroyed it"

"You? Why?"

Because I was paid to do so.

Because someone else wasn't able to complete the job.
