Rahim's grandma poured me a cup of water, I smiled and thanked her before gulping it down. Her grandson reached over me to grab the extra food on Kai's plate.
The dark haired boy noticed it immediately and smacked his hand away, almost hitting me in the face before I shoved my head back.
I set the cup down and wiped at my chin, but no water had spilled.
The dreaded mission, Kai's words- not mine, was... tomorrow morning.
From the bomb that Ares dropped on me the day a couple months prior about it, and the overall feeling of being weak- I had found myself yearning to do better.
I guess I had some misconceptions about the nature of our relationship, I expected him to have cared about us the same way that Rahim and his family had.
He did care though, but not about us as the kids we were. He cared about us like a commander and his soliders.
From that day, I changed my perspective of him. And things seemed to be moving seemingly well for me, coupled in with my extra training and the support I recived from Rahim, Samed and his wife, I knew it was time to prove myself.
Rahim tried to inch towards Kai's plate once more, and the dark haired boy anticipated the move.
I leaned back on my elbows as I let them duel it out, Ares peered from his own cup to watch.
"Rahim, stop trying to take Kai's food." Ares reprimanded, and Kai smirked throwing a grin at Rahim who was now under Ares' spotlight of humiliation. "Kai, I don't know what you're smiling about."
Kai's smile dropped.
I chewed on the reamining morsels on Kai's plate, the crunching causing all three pairs of eyes to look into mine. "Yeah Kai, where's your backbone?" I took another bite and both Rahim and Kai watched slack mouthed as I ate the remainder. "Stand up for yourself."
Kai stared doe eyed at the bread, like he had never been properly fed in his life and I had just taken away his first meal.
The two boys locked eyes, and I glanced at the both of them; I didn't like the evil glint in their eyes as they conjured up a plan.
"Hey..." I brought the bread up to my mouth in an attempt to take a bite, "I don't like that look in either one of your eyes."
Kai nodded and before I knew it Rahim slip his arms under my armpits, he locked his hands behind my head leaving me trapped.
I gasped as I crushed the bread in my fist, knowing that was what they were gonna go after. Ares sighed and I saw him rub his temples from the side.
Kai wiggled his fingers at me, the only thing to complete the act was to smile- but he stared coldly at me, "Kai- don't,"
His fingers came down and began tickling my sides, I jolted but to no avail. Rahim had me trapped in his grasp. I screamed, loud laughs slipped from my mouth though I did not find this situation to be as amusing as they all thought it to be.
I shrieked, begging Ares to help me but he just sat and sipped his tea.
Bringing my knee to my chest, I reeled it back enough to deliver a quick kick to the side of Kai's face.
