another written chapter because i'm built different 😏😏
"Jung Hoseok, you better have a good reason to be dragging me out of a strong cuddle session at four fucking am."
Hoseok pressed his lips together at Taehyung's remark, though said nothing. Taehyung paused, clearing his throat and looking away abruptly. A few moments passed by, and through his peripheral vision, Hoseok saw Taehyung dab the sides of his eye a bit.
"What?" Taehyung asked, noticing Hoseok's gaze. "It's been three years. When you asked me to meet you, I couldn't believe it. You're actually here."
"Against my better judgment I am," Hoseok sighed, murmuring softly. "Haven't figured out if I'm regretting the decision yet."
Without another word, Taehyugn engulfed Hoseok into a fierce hug. He would be lying if he said his mind wasn't all over the place, but right now, seeing one of his best friends after years, all he could think about was how much he'd missed Hoseok. He tried quelling his tears to no avail, letting run pitifully down his cheek as he burrowed he clung onto Hoseok for dear life.
Hoseok had forgotten how it felt like to hug Taehyung. He couldn't believe where he was either. He didn't think he'd be stupid enough to drive back to his old home, to the place he left so long ago, but here he was. Of course, he'd let no one except Taehyung know that he was back in Seoul. No need to cause widespread panic.
All he had to was make sure to keep himself low. He was staying at a nearby hotel, ensuring that he was away from anywhere Yoongi and everyone else was. As long as he kept a low profile, no one would know that Hoseok had decided to waltz to Seoul.
To be honest, Hoseok didn't know what the fuck he was doing.
He had no idea what compelled him to come to Seoul. All he knew was that Jimin and Jungkook's conversation with him left him fucked up, so much so he forgot what he even did the hours leading up to him getting in his car. Everything felt like a fever dream, even though he knew exactly where he was.
"I'd invite you back to the place, but, you're not welcome there yet," Taehyung murmured quietly, pulling away." I told myself I wouldn't cry, fuck, Hoseok, do you see what you do to me?"
"I'm sorry," Hoseok whispered. "I didn't mean to come here like this."
"Did you mean to come ever?" Taehyung chuckled humorlessly. "It's okay, Hoseok. You're known to make impulse decisions. I mean, that's your whole lifestyle."
Hoseok grimaced. "I know."
"What are you planning on doing?" Taehyung asked, concern etched onto his face. "Your chances of seeing Yoongi have increased dramatically. Not to mention, Jimin, Jungkook, and all the others. I'm sure your buddies from home don't know you're here."
"I don't know yet," Hoseok admitted. "I'm going to figure it out though. I'm assuming that Jungkook and Jimin deleted the messages that I sent Yoongi through my other account."
"As they should, you're a fucking idiot for doing that," Taehyung scoffed. "In fact, Hoseok, you're the biggest idiot the world has ever conceived and that's saying something. I mean, Jungkook exists."
"Hey, don't do Jungkook like that," Hoseok reprimanded, crossing his arms. "You don't even know Jungkook the way I do."
Taehyung shrugged. "You're probably right. Still, you're an idiot."
Hoseok didn't need to be constantly reminded of that. He knew.
Everything he did, everything he'd done, everything he was in the process of trying to do, all led back to him being an impulsive idiot. There was no way around it. Every step he took felt like a thousand steps back, and he was so lost in himself all he could do was step blindly into any direction hoping it would make a difference.
Hoseok didn't know why he was even making an effort now. At first, he had convinced himself that he was doing it because he owed an explanation but now he wasn't sure. He was going to great lengths just for Yoongi, and it felt so dumb because he was the one that left three years ago.
God, why couldn't he just leave Yoongi alone?
Yoongi was a figure of his past. Yoongi meant nothing to him— wasn't that a reason why Hoseok had never come back? The fact that Hoseok was so unsure of himself, how he found himself unable to say the words 'I do' to Yoongi, despite how much he wanted to, and on impulse leaving. This was supposed to be a black and white ordeal— this shouldn't be haunting him the way it was now.
Hoseok didn't like Yoongi.
It was about time Hoseok got that through his head.
"Where are you staying?" Taehyung asked suddenly. "I don't know about you, but being out in the open like this, is freaking me out a bit. We're in a parking garage for fuck's sake. Feels like I'm doing a drug deal right now. I'll follow you back to where you're staying."
Hoseok nodded. "Yeah, I think that's best."
"You have a lot of stuff on your mind, talk to me about it," Taehyung smiled crookedly. "I'm out anyhow because of you, might as well help you figure yourself out."
"You're the best, Taehyung," Hoseok finally smiled. Taehyung winked.
"I know that Hoseok," Taehyung twirled his key ring in his fingers. "It's why you called me to help you in the first place."
Hoseok got into his car, and after leaving, Taehyung followed right after. A cut, clean, successful meetup, one that was leading to more progress than loss.
At least that's what they had thought.
What they hadn't realized was that someone had followed Taehyung, out of curiosity and worry and that someone had been watching from his car. Though he hadn't been able to see the person Taehyung had been talking to for the longest, the moon had appeared in his favor the moment the mysterious person got into the car.
And with that, Yoongi's heart shattered into a million pieces.
His fingers clutched onto the steering wheel for dear life as he blinked back the tears that were already spilling out. All he had caught was the dimple on the cheek of the person, eyes hooded by the grown-out hair, but there was no doubt about it. Yoongi knew from the frame, from the way Taehyung had acted around the person.
The guy in the car was Hoseok. His Hoseok.
No, not his Hoseok. Not anymore. Not after he left.
It took everything in Yoongi not to scream, not to follow them out. Maybe he was deluding himself, considering it was incredibly late at night, but something in Yoongi told him he had seen someone he wasn't supposed to see.
There was no way Taehyung had been meeting him, of all people, right?
Wordlessly, Yoongi took out his cellphone, hovering over the set of messages from his last conversation with Hoseok. One that had ended so abruptly. There was no way that Hoseok, the same person who had acted so coldly through messages, was back in Seoul. No way.
No, not when Yoongi had been so close to moving on.
Yoongi's tears spilled onto the screen as he continued to scroll upwards, blurring both his vision and the screen in front of him. What did he do to deserve this? As much as he willed it to be fake, Yoongi knew that all he was doing was wishful thinking.
Hoseok was back.
What the fuck was Yoongi going to do now?
