He's not here.

Jungkook pressed his lips together as he looked down at the clock in his phone. He shook his head, blinking twice before finally sighing. He could feel the tears starting to well up in his eyes, but he forced them back and straightened himself up.

It wasn't like he'd given Seokjin leeway even though he had told Seokjin to be on time. It also wasn't like he'd been standing around like an idiot hoping that Seokjin would actually follow through and show up. It wasn't like Taehyung had warned him that Seokjin had a knack for showing up late to things that were most important to him. And it definitely wasn't like Jungkook convinced Taehyung and Hoseok that Seokjin would follow through to his word.

The fact that he'd waited too. Jungkook had literally waited ten minutes and there was still no sign of Seokjin anywhere. He felt stupid— scratch that, he was stupid. Why did he expect that Seokjin wanted to actually speak with him when Seokjin had already said that he didn't want anything to do with him?

"We should go now."

Hoseok's voice was soft as he said this. Whether it was because he pitied Jungkook's situation or because he was trying to be gentle, Jungkook couldn't pinpoint. Still, it bothered him how nonchalant Hoseok was being about this, especially when he was in similar circumstances. The only difference was that Hoseok had been the one constantly trying to leave, and Yoongi stayed. Now, they were in the process of making amends.

That's what Seokjin and Jungkook were supposed to do, but of course, they didn't have the same luck that Yoongi and Hoseok did. Jungkook had waited, for fucks sake, and he still hadn't bothered to show up.

"Jungkook. He's not coming."

"I know," Jungkook whispered, giving Hoseok a feeble smile. "It really is the end, isn't it?"

Hoseok put his hand on Jungkook's shoulder. "You two just had a small fight. That's all."

"You don't get it," Jungkook scoffed, bottom lip beginning to tremble. "If it was just a small fight, he wouldn't have called it quits.  He literally said he didn't want to be with me anymore."

"I'm sure there's a misunderstanding—"

"I'm not the main character, Hoseok," Jungkook responded bitterly. "Not like you. If Seokjin said that we were over, then we are. I don't get to have it easy as you do."

"I can't believe you're making me say this, JK, but love isn't easy." Hoseok took Jungkook's hand, beginning to lead him towards the car. "You're the main character of your story, and if you want to base it like that, think of this as your character arc. The attention's on you right now. It'll work out. I promise."

Jungkook couldn't help but laugh. "You're such an idiot. Come on. Let's go."

"There's the smile I love seeing," Hoseok smiled brightly. "Come on. This man don't deserve your time. He didn't even text you to let you know you were late."

"Yeah," Jungkook whispered, looking back once more at the spot he and Seokjin were supposed to meet at.

He's not coming.

"Let's go."

🏃‍♂️

If you guys could just hurry up, that would be great.

Kim Seokjin just about had the worst luck in the world.

All he had planned on doing was get something sweet for Jungkook. His favorite flowers, favorite snacks, anything that he could think of. All that did was make him lose track of time. There was a long line (much to his luck), but because Seokjin was stubborn and he wanted to make it up to Jungkook, he decided to wait.

Big mistake.

He managed to better his luck by taking the wrong turn and completely getting himself into mountains of traffic. Rush hour, or hell on earth, as Seokjin would like to think of it, especially when he had places to be. Still, he had managed to convince himself that it wasn't too bad. All he had to do was text Jungkook that he'd be late because he was stuck in traffic. Pretty simple, right?

Wrong.

Seokjin's phone conveniently ran out of battery before he had a chance to send Jungkook a text.

He knew this would look bad.

Everything about this was bad.

He had been the one wanting to get Jungkook to meet with him. His poor choice of words caused him to make grave mistakes, ones that he was planning on rectifying. But, much to his luck, everything seemed to be against him.  All Seokjin could hope for was that Jungkook, despite saying that he would leave if Seokjin was late, had actually stayed.

No matter how long it would take, Seokjin would fix this— would fix them.

He hoped that Jungkook wanted to do the same.

"When I have places to be, it's the time that I get held back the most," Seokjin resisted the urge to ditch his car and run towards Jungkook, knowing that he couldn't afford to hold up traffic even more with an unmoving vehicle. Not to mention, he'd be left without a car, and he wasn't going to spend money on a new one.

All he could do was wait for luck to finally get him through this.

Seokijn watched as the time passed, heart dropping at every minute that went over the meeting time.

One minute.

Three minutes.

Seven minutes.

Eleven minutes.

He managed to get past traffic, and now his next task was to find a parking spot. Fortunately for him, there was one parking space available, and he messily parked before sprinting to their meeting spot,

As luck would have it, there was no sign of Jungkook there.

Seokjin had arrived too late.
