August 2018

This was it.

The moment of truth, the moment that would define Hoseok's future.

Was he scared? Absolutely.

Being scared was more of an understatement. Hoseok was terrified as he buttoned up the dress shirt he had on with shaking fingers. Thankfully, no one was in the room to see him feeling like a complete mess. His palms were sweating, as was his forehead, and no doubt in every other place that Hoseok could have sweat coming from. His knees were weak, and it felt like with any one step Hoseok that Hoseok could take, he'd be sent crashing down. His stomach felt like it was flipping everywhere, waves of nausea consuming him, and his arms felt heavy— apart from all the trembling they were doing.

Was it normal to feel like this on the day of your wedding?

"Get it together," Hoseok mumbled to himself as he looked at himself in the mirror. "You're marrying Yoongi today. The love of your life. You should be excited right now."

At least, that's what he was trying to convince himself to do.

Trying to convince himself that he was excited— completely ecstatic at the thought of marrying Yoongi. He'd known Yoongi for years, lived with him for some, and now they were finally ready to tie the knot. So why was it, after all this time, that Hoseok was feeling queasy?

There was a difference between feeling butterflies versus feeling your stomach shrinking. Hoseok was feeling the latter, and the more he looked at himself in the mirror, the more terrified he became.

The person that stared back at Hoseok in the mirror was not him. It looked like him, sure, but did it feel like it was him? Absolutely not. There was no way that the one in the mirror, the one that was dressed lavishly from head to toe, tuxedo and everything with a single flower adorning his chest, was him. Instead, the person in the mirror seemed ready to be married.

Hoseok, however, was feeling the exact opposite.

"You can't hide in there forever!"

Hoseok snapped back into reality. Clearing his throat loudly, he forced himself to smile, quickly wiping the tear that had unknowingly run down his cheek. Opening the door, he was greeted by Taehyung, who looked the way Hoseok should have been feeling.

"How's the groom doing on this fine day?" Taehyung quickly embraced Hoseok, unable to keep the grin off his face. Hoseok smiled back at him, forcing himself to exude the personality that he was not feeling. "I can't believe you're getting married!"

"Me neither," Hoseok responded. "It's so surreal."

"You should probably start heading over there, by the way," Taehyung grinned, guiding Hoseok down the hallway. "Your wedding's about to start. I'm sure Yoongi's already waiting for you. But, wait, have you seen Yoongi today?"

Hoseok swallowed the lump in his throat. "No. Is that a good thing?"

Taehyung nodded. "It's bad luck to see your future partner to be on your wedding day. Well, I read that on the internet. I have no clue if it's true or not. You'll be fine, though. You two love each other."

But did they love each other enough?

"What if I trip?" Hoseok blurted, catching Taehyung by surprise. "I'll be a laughingstock for years."
