Luna was unsurprisingly the first to react. While the other reminded still, trying to comprehend what they had just witnessed, Luna rushed forward with a hopeful whine. She reached a hand out to touch herself, hesitant and worried that he'd just disappear, but the second Zale swooped her up in a hug, the breath everyone had been holding was released. The realization that Hades and Persephone weren't ready to accept the son of Poseidon's death made it clear whose side they were on. A relief to the group who thought they would lose their chance at victory.
The moment Zale and Luna's reunion confirmed his existence, the rest of the group ran over to confirm their own suspicions, a mess of talking over each other and questions desperate for answers.
"What? How?" Zach asked, pulling Zale into a tight hug he wasn't sure he'd ever let the boy out of. "How are you back? Here?" Zale laughed and hugged him back tightly, letting go a second later to grab ahold of Luna's arm again, the separation for a few hours is too long for them.
"Let's just say that Uncle said that if I kept an eye out for Nes, he could manage to turn a blind eye," He shrugged. He pulled his sister into another hug and wiped the tears from her red, swollen eyes and face gently. "And we've got a god to kill, after all. Hades said that if we need a good hiding place, he'd have us in the Underworld. But until they're attacked, they're staying neutral."
"Well, whatever the reason is, we couldn't be more grateful," Nesrin chuckled, resting a hand on Zale's arm. "I am so, so sorry that I couldn't do anything." Zale shrugged his shoulders and opened his mouth to respond before he was cut off.
"We have bigger things to worry about right now," Koa interrupted. "We've got a battle to fight now. We have got to stop Hera before she could do any more damage. Zale, do you think you and Luna could manage to provide cover?" Zale nodded his head and reached up for his earring. Zach knew that if Zale pulled it out, it would turn into a trident much like his father's. Which left the bracelet around Luna's wrist that she was fiddling with to turn into a bident. Their Chaos Twins were back together, meaning that Hera hadn't really won.
"Sounds good to me. I vote we start moving now," Hudson called from just outside the circle that had surrounded Zale. "The sooner we get to her, the less time Hera had to prepare."
"We're off to kill a god!" Kenna cheered.
"Anarchy!" Campbell agreed with the same enthusiasm, causing Sadie to groan.
"That's not... yeah, okay," Sadie sighed, shaking her head. Zach smiled over at Campbell and the boy smiled back and just for a moment, Zach forgot how breathe. The Knight whose chaos rivaled only the Chaos Twins themselves turned on his heels and pulled off his sword from its chain.
"For the love of Camelot!" Jude agreed, hoisting his own sword up high in the air.
"Let's go make a storm, Luna," Zale chuckled darkly from his spot next to Luna. "The biggest, baddest storm we've ever made. Better than anyone's ever seen." Luna giggled and nodded her head, snapping off her own bracelet before shooting a sideways smile towards Nesrin. And he didn't have to be the son of Aphrodite to notice the ever-growing romantic tension that had been growing between Luna and Nesrin for a while now.
The group took off running, following after Koa's lead to the throne room. He ended up near the Knights, listening to them whisper to each other. They whispered things back and forth, finding whatever they were mentioning to be too funny to keep from laughing. According to Koa's plan, they were only supposed to be there to get the captives out and leave, but even though he had known them for a very short time, Zach knew there was no way that they would sit this one out.
Making it to the throne room was easier than it should have been. There were no guards and no sight of any of the other gods to stop them. It should have been easy for Hera to put a stop to them there, to make them fight someone early on to tire them out, but she didn't. That was the first thing that was off about this whole battle. It was almost as if she wanted them there. Either she wanted them there or there was no god close enough to help her. Zach doubted the second option.
