Chapter 9

"Henry!" Shouted Emma. She turned towards Killian who already had his keys in his hand. He ran over, picked up Henry and carried him to the car. They were driving for what seemed like forever before they got to the hospital. Killian picked up Henry from the backseat and ran him in to see Dr. Whale.

"Please explain to me exactly what happened." Said Dr. Whale.

Emma picked up a bag with the turnover in it and handed it to Whale. "He ate this and then dropped unconscious!"

"He is showing no signs of poison. So whatever happened to him, it wasn't this!"

"What could it be then?"

"I don't know, that's what I'm trying to figure out!"

Emma walked over to Killian and he embraced her in a long hug. At this point she was crying and Whale came over to them.

"Can you please check his backpack for anything unusual?"

Emma walked over to Henry's backpack and emptied the contents. Dr. Whale was talking to another nurse and she heard him say, "I don't know what it could be! It's like..."

"Magic" Emma whispered to herself.

At that moment, Regina hurried in. Emma assumed Dr. Whale called her. As Regina walked in, Emma grabbed her arm and took her into a closet.

"What have you done!" Cried Emma.

"What are you talking about?"

"He ate that apple turnover that you gave me and then dropped unconscious!" Shouted Emma.

"What." Regina whispered.

"It's true isn't it?"

"What are you talking about?"

"The curse, the fairy tales! Everything Henry said was true!"

"Yes it is."

"You kept this secret for that long?!"

"Of course I did! It is MY curse!"

"How do we cure Henry?"

"I don't know."

"You know what never mind! I'm going to go sit in the waiting room and hope that Henry wakes up."

"He won't."

"Why not?!" Cried Emma.

"It's a sleeping curse. It puts you in a sleep with dreams made out of your deepest regrets. And u was made for you! Not Henry!"

"Why were you going to do this to me even when you knew for a fact that I was leaving!"

"Because as long as you are around you are still a part of Henry's life!"

"This is about jealousy?!"

Regina didn't reply.

"Is there any way to cure him?"

"No."

Emma started tearing up and left the closet. She walked over to Killian and he wrapped her in his arms and didn't let go. They just sat there, Emma leaning on Killian's shoulder and his arms wrapped around her. Regina walked out a couple minutes later and sat across from them on the couch. Emma glared at her for so long until Killian finally noticed and kissed her forehead and pulled her in closer. He looked down at her in confusion but didn't ask because he knew it was bad. Emma was usually pretty hard to make really mad.

A couple minutes later, Dr. Whale came out to Emma and Killian. Emma instantly sat up to see the sadness on top of the doctor's face.

"We did everything we could." Is all he said.

Emma collapsed onto Killian crying harder than she ever had before. He helped her up and walked her into Henry's room. She could barely look at his pale face and skinny body without crying harder. She started walking towards Henry's bed with Killian at her side. She knelt down right at his head and whispered, "I love you Henry." and kissed his forehead.
