CHAPTER 17 : PROGRESS

The sun had risen brightly, its rays of sunlight touching the water making it extra sparkly, the once calm river was now flowing with raging currents causing the water to create a harsh impact on the rocks.

It was nearly 7 am, Mew and Gulf was still near the rivers minding their own businesses with Mew reading his book and Gulf fidgeting with the cloak, taking note that he should bring something with him to pass time such as books.

Mew placed his book on top of the rock before standing up and stretching his body.

Gulf looked up to see Mew walking.

“W-where are you going?” Gulf asked, taken aback.

“I’m getting food” Mew says nonchalantly, not bothering to look back at Gulf.

“So y-you’re leaving? I mean what if someone-“ Gulf frantically blabbers while looking around, anxiously.

“Chill, I’ll be back” Mew scoffs

“A-alright, okay. Yeah sure- I mean it’s not as if someone will just come barging in right? Yeah right” he mumbles, frantic.

Mew finds the frantic mumbling, amusing but decided to tease the other further.

“I don’t know. Probably?” He says with a slight mocking tone lingering his voice.

Gulf quivers but soon glares at Mew trying to push the thought off his mind.

“Just go” Gulf ushers, wrapping the cloak tighter around himself with his eyebrows furrowed and lips forming a frown.

Mew chuckles and proceeded to walk further.

As soon as Mew disappeared from Gulf’s sight, he couldn’t help but feel anxious.

He kept on scanning the area, making sure that there was no one aside from him.

Feeling scared at the thought of someone taking advantage of the less secured area now that only the omega was left to guard the borders near the river.

Good thing he was distracted with the cloak, he ended up fidgeting with the said cloth.

But his senses were heightened when he heard leaves rustling.

He instinctively looked up, frantically scanned the area in a 360 degree motion.

But the rustling stopped, the silence was back.

He suspiciously looked around, slowly.

Then he caught a pair of eyes camouflaging underneath the green leafy bushes.

He wouldn’t have notice it, if those orbs didn’t blink.

He slowly prepared himself to stand up, but the moment he moved.

The suspicious figure ran in the speed of a lightning, impossible enough for Gulf to catch up.

As if on cue, Mew came back.

Holding a tray of food.

“What’s with you?” Mew looks at him suspiciously, judging his preying posture.

“N-nothing” Gulf stuttered, returning to his previous position on the rock.

“Eat. Saint and the others will be coming soon” Mew said as he placed the tray on a flat surfaced rock that could serve as their table.
