CHAPTER 22 : DOUBT
Thankfully because of Gulf’s warmth, Mew’s fever had gone down.
When Mew woke up, he caught sight of a sleeping omega next to him in his wolf form.
Mew slowly sat up, rubbing his eyes lazily as he trails his stare to the wolf’s smooth features.
His thoughts were suddenly pushed to the drain when his instincts kicked in and his hand slowly lifted itself landing behind the white wolf’s ear.
He rubbed the same spot softly, afraid of waking up the other to which the omega leaned in to the touch.
He sighed deeply, sooner or later they won’t be able to delay the bond further.
Surprised that Mew knows? Well yes, Mew knew ever since they met at the river but he never voiced it out nor did he tell anyone about it.
He knew they were potential mates, judging from how they reacted during the incident of their first touch, how they’re always subtly needing to be close to the other, and not to mention, everything Gun has said when they were trying to connect the dots, it was all too accurate that Mew was having second thoughts, doubting himself.
He really disliked the idea of having mates, he always thought they will only hold you back.
They’ll just become your weakness.
But he started doubting his own perception over mates when…First, male omegas are paired to true blood alphas with a 90% possibility because Saint’s research says only them are capable of handling these rare species.
Second, Only a male omega can make a true blood submit. (not that Mew wanted to admit that)
Third, Pride. Gulf managed to thaw that.
I wouldn’t have laid here on the ground with him, if I was too prideful.
He sighed once again.
“Looks like you win, Atlas” Mew thought as he continued caressing the other’s fur not minding if anyone can see.
“And you’re welcome. I could have kicked you out if I really wanted to” Mew whispers to himself.
Gulf shifted slightly in his sleep but nevertheless continued to doze off.
Mew then found himself returning to his previous position and basking in the other’s warmth.
Peaceful. A perfect word to describe their current state.
Meanwhile Gun and Saint in the field.
“Don’t you think we need to research about the prophecy Aunt Neoma refused to tell us?”
“Actually right. About that… we need to at least know about it so that we’ll have an idea on what we’re actually trying to avoid” Gun agrees to the other.
“Good to know we’re on the same page”
“Got you, partner”
---------------------------------------
Mew and Gulf continued on with their daily routine consisting of watching the borders at dawn, eating lunch, proceeding to the field to assist the pups and night walkers and will soon make their way to the main hall when night falls.
But Gun and Saint chose to ditch the shift rotations today and of course with the permission of their pairs leaving Off, Joss and Luke guarding two stations.
