Morning came and Alex's eyes cracked open.
"Ms Alex! Top of the morning to ya, I made you breakfast and if you can hurry that would be nice cause we gotta go." Winn said as he checked the watch on his wrist.
Soon enough they arrived at the DEO, Maggie was there with soft caring eyes to greet her lover as she walked in.
"Hey baby, I know you're still hurting. And that's totally okay, okay?" Alex's eyes looked around in attempt to find some sort of way to get out of this situation. God she hated talking about her feelings, it was so gross and messy."I signed you up for group therapy love."
Alex's eyes widened at Maggie's sentence.
"What?" Alex's voice was soft."It's good for you, I wouldn't have done it if I knew it wasn't gonna help you. My friend went there once and said it really helped her. I love you sweetheart and I want you to get better."
At this point, Alex felt so beaten down and defeated that she just let it go. She didn't want to fight anymore, didn't even want to think too hard, everything hurt. She loved Maggie but hardly had any energy to show it.
"Okay, whatever." Alex agreed. Maggie rubbed her arm and gave a face of sympathy to the taller woman. The next day Maggie drove Alex to group therapy and dropped her off "I'll see you in an hour luv" maggie blew a kiss.
Alex walked in and took a seat on one of the chairs that were formed in a circle. Little by little people started to arrive. When the clock hit 5:00pm, the therapist finally walked in and took a seat."Alright hey guys, let's get started, by a show of fingers, how was your day 1-10?"
Alex raised one finger while others held up 3, some 5, and others none at all.
"Alright great, let's start from here, tell me why you raised that many fingers." The therapist gestured to the girl beside him. As they went half way around the circle, some talked about loneliness, others felt numb, but when it got to Alex she didn't quite know what to say.
"Alex, how about you?" The therapist spoke to the saddened girl.
"Uhm- I- I felt like one because.. well.. life is still going on? But I'm not happy..." Alex's voice cracked and she looked down.
"And that Alex, is perfectly okay. Sometimes we feel very low in life but it's not always completely dull, it's almost as if we can't hit pause."
Alex made a small nod but inside, it felt like someone gave her a small hug. She felt slightly accepted and understood in a way. As other people answered the question, she noticed these people felt things she had felt at one point. Was this really helping? I guess.
