"Hey Alex I'm going to go get groceries okay? Wanna come?" Maggie asked Alex.
"Um no I'm good." Alex replied while sitting on the couch on her phone.
"Okay.. Well if you need anything just call me okay?" Maggie said a little worried because the thought of leaving Alex at home by herself in this state of mind was a little bit scary, she didn't want Alex to try anything.
"Okay." Alex said calmly.
A couple of minutes later, Alex started to feel it again, she wanted to drink, she wanted to cut, she wanted to cry. But she thought come on Alex your stronger than this.... no no just give up and do it... maybe I should call Maggie? No no I'm okay.
Alex took a deep breath and went on her phone again. It just kept coming though, she couldn't do it she couldn't hold back. Hesitantly, she called Maggie. Within one ring Maggie answer the phone, the first thing she heard was Alex's sniffling. "Alex are you okay?" She asked.
"Yeah, I uh.. just" Alex took a deep breath.
"Danvers.." Maggie said softly.
"No, okay no I'm not okay.. can you just come home please?" Alex said, still crying.
"Yeah Yeah of course. I'm on my way." Maggie said and went home as quick as possible.
Alex sobbed on the couch, and as soon as she heard Maggie come in she got up and ran towards her and hugged her and sobbed into her shoulder.
"Okay.. It's okay.. shh.. it's alright I'm right here.." Maggie said comforting Alex and rubbing her back.
When Alex finished crying she stopped hugging Maggie and just stared at the floor scared to meet her eyes, her sad eyes. "Hey.. look at me.." Maggie put her finger under Alex's chin raising it so their eyes could meet. "You did the right thing. When you felt scared or sad, you called me. I'm glad. Whenever you feel anxious or anything wrong, you just let me know okay?"
Alex just nodded, still in her dark place but it was starting to go away a little.
"Okay.. you wanna talk about it?" Maggie asked softly.
Alex shook in her head in response.
"Okay well you just let me know alright? Do you..Wanna take your mind off it and watch a movie?" Maggie asked hoping it would cheer Alex up a little.
"Actually, I'm kind of tired I think I'm going to take a nap." Alex wasn't actually tired she just wanted time to be alone without Maggie having to worry about her and what she's doing.
"Alright." Maggie smiled.
Alex walked into the guest room closing the door behind her, she laid down on the bed and stared at the ceiling letting thoughts just run through her head. Her eyes started to get watery, she needed Maggie.
"Maggie" she called out. Soon enough Maggie opened the door and Alex looked at her already starting to cry, still laying on the bed.
Alex sat up and Maggie sat on the bed with her, bringing her in for a hug. Alex didn't cry so hard this time with the comfort of Maggie there. She didn't feel as alone as she normally does. She felt safe in Maggie's arms. That's when she realized, there's nothing wrong with a little help.
