Finally, a taste of freedom.

After walking out of the exam hall, I knew it deep down that this last paper, I'm going to ace it. I broke my pen as a sign of good luck before walking in direction of the tuck shop. I was famished mehn. I walked to my locker and I opened it, I pocketed my phone and money before locking it back.

Don't ask me who told me that breaking pens after exam is a sign of good luck.

People were hanging around and talking everywhere. Almost everyone have finished their exam and that's so relaxing. The fact that you won't read till your brain shuts down or till you recite mathematics formula in your sleep. I can't wait to flex life during this two weeks break. It's the end of the year and they are going to host dinner night next week Friday which means we can come to school to play from now till the dinner night, if you are part of the planning committee, extra stress.

My phone started vibrating and I brought it out to see Demi calling me. A smile made its way to my face unconsciously and I picked the call. He hanged up almost immediately and I hissed.

That boy is very mad.

I entered the tuck shop and I picked what I wanted to eat before walking out after payment. I bumped into someone on my way out and I turned to apologize, but my word got stuck in my throat due to the intensity of the glare the person was pinning on me.

I tried to rack my brain to remember where I knew her from but I couldn't remember. I just spunned on my heels and I walked in direction of the music lab. I wanted to see a certain someone.

You're whipped girl.

When I walked into the music lab, Demi was no where to be found and I wanted to turn around before bumping into senior Tutu.

The same one that kissed Demi on stage.

I apologized and tried to walk off but she pulled my hand back. I took a deep breath and I stared at our connected hands. I stared at her face and she smiled at me.

"I just wanted to apologize for what happened the other time with Demi. I didn't know what came over me, I guess we got caught up in the moment and I apologize for every pain I caused you" She released my hand before walking in direction of the piano. No doubt to make another hit since her song's still trending in Nigeria.

I walked out of the music lab hurriedly while trying to process the apology. Omoooo, I can't even believe she's apologizing and all that.

I was about to make a U-turn for my class that was when I saw the goat I was looking for. He smiled when he saw me and he opened his arms wide. I stepped into the open arms and he hugged me tight.

"Mon Cherie, see how you're glowing like Gloria. My face will be a perfect throne for a queen like you" He whispered into my ears and I hit his chest playfully. Demi is a pervert for real.

He held my hand and we walked towards the garden. I'm sure the library will be full by now and other laboratories too. When we got to the garden entrance, the crowd there was nothing to write home about plus the noise again.

"Should we just go to the relaxation spot to get pizza and ice cream?" He asked and I nodded my head. He threw his arm around my neck and we walked towards the relaxation spot.

We got a seat towards the back of the place and we placed our orders. We were already served ice cream, just waiting for our pizza when Demi's phone rang. He picked it up and he went pale at the news that the caller told him on phone. He stood up and he picked his jotter before hanging up.

"Baby girl, i have to go home now, like right now. Some stuff just happened. Don't worry about me, I will be fine. Okay?" He whispered before kissing my forehead and he walked out. I nodded absentmindedly.

I kept on staring at his retreating figure unable to comprehend what just happened now.

Breathe Demilade, breathe.

It's surprising how such a simple thing as breathing is now so difficult for me. Everything is going downhill and I can feel it. I can't help but think about mum and how she's holding up.

Since She called me in school to come home with Steph, she's not picking her calls anymore. I can't even start to go down the lines of what ifs and what can go wrong within a span of how many minutes.

Mum, just pick up.

I sighed as the third phone call ended without anyone picking it. Steph held my hand and she patted it in an attempt to calm me down. We are both scared shitless but someone has to be strong for the other.

I didn't wait for the driver to park the car properly before jumping out and I can hear Steph screaming my name. I ran to my mom's room direction and the only thing I could hear was her screaming WHY?!

I threw the door open without knocking and mom was hunched over the bed gripping the sheets so tight. That was when I saw him, the cause of our pains standing at a corner with his head hanging low. The man standing here looked nothing like the vibrant man I use to call my dad, rather he looked like a man who had lost everything.

Things are about to go south abi north😩😩😩
