"Take me back to the middle of nowhere,
Back to the place only you and I share.
Remember all the memories?
The fireflies and make-believe.
Kicking back in the old school yard,
Singing songs on our guitars,
This is our reality,
Crazy stupid, you and me.We know this is the way it's supposed to be."
Today was an average day, I suppose. Jenna, Atalanta and I haven't really done anything in a while, so it's cool to know that we have something next week. I missed that. Today was almost like how it used to be.
Almost.
I feel like Jenna, Atalanta, and I are drifting apart again. This summer will be the last time we can really hang out, as next August, we will officially be incoming freshmeat at high school. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that we'll even be able to see each other.
I don't want this to be the end.I had fencing practice immediately after school. I haven't seen Rachel, AL, Leah, or Phoebe in almost a week, so it was refreshing to see a familiar face today. It reminded me that it's the only place I feel truly secure, included, and safe. I walk in and I have a group of people to talk to and a passion we all had in common.
I've never mentioned how interesting it is to see someone fence. You see their true self come out. Leah, for example, is a bubbly "class-clown" type of girl (but really, they're all like the class clowns), however, when she fences, she's aggressive and unstoppable.
And you truly are unstoppable, when you hold that blade while rushing down the strip, oh, the feeling is electrifying, it's exhilarating...
Nothing compares to it.
