Camila drives to Club N9NE Thursday for Maisie's birthday, but she couldn’t go with her friend and her boyfriend because he had a surprise for her, so she had to drive herself since Noah wasn’t able to go. She had given Maisie a cute pair of bracelets for her collection, which she chose with Sofia and Aaliyah’s help. They even skipped last period to celebrate her friend’s birthday and the fact that Joel had decided to officially adopt her.

Now Camila has a lot of time to think while she drives and she realizes something quite important. She has finally accepted her father’s death, but mostly important she has accepted her mother’s fate. She has even accepted the situation with Shawn and doesn’t blame him at all for his choices. She did have this fantasie for a while that he would tell her he doesn’t need a career when he can have love, but in reality, she didn’t think she would have accepted the fact that he could throw those things away for her so easily. It would have said a lot less about his character, so she respects his choice and she knows one day when she’s ready, she’ll thank him for that.

She pulls up to the Club around eight, finding the parking lot unusually crowded, so she takes a spot in the back of the building. When she gets out of her car, Camila takes a deep breath to prepare herself. She’s not sure when she made that decision, but she was going to perform that night. She starts having second thoughts, but she remembers her mother telling her to push her boundaries.

Walking through the doors, Camila can tell someone is about to perform because of how quiet the room is. She makes her way to the back, finding an empty booth and taking her phone to send Maisie a text, but then she hears him. She looks up and finds Shawn standing on stage in front of the microphone with his acoustic guitar, performing as the 'sacrifice'.

"Maybe I had too many drinks
But that's just what I needed
I hope that you don't think that what I'm saying sounds conceited
When I look across the room, and you're staring right back at me
Like somebody told a joke and we're the only ones laughing"

"Don't know why I tried
'Cause ain't nobody like you
Familiar disappointment every single time I do
Every single night my arms are not around you
My mind's still wrapped around you"

"Baby, tell me when you're ready
I'm waiting
Baby, any time you're ready
I'm waiting"

"Even ten years from now
If you haven't found somebody
I promise, I'll be around
Tell me when you're ready
I'm waiting"

"And if I have to, I'll wait forever
Say the word and I'll change my plans
Yeah, you know that we fit together
I know your heart like the back of my hand"

"So baby, tell me when you're ready
I'm waiting
Baby, any time you're ready
I'm waiting"

"Even ten years from now
If you haven't found somebody
I promise, I'll be around
Tell me when you're ready
I'm waiting, yeah"

When Shawn’s voice fades and people start clapping, Camila feels all of the air escape her lungs. She gets out of the booth and walks back to the front door, but then decides to make a quick stop at the restroom. She just needs silence and she’s relieved to see all the stalls empty, but there’s a girl washing her hands on the sink. Camila locks herself on one of the stalls and leans up against the door.

She can’t believe that just happened. He didn’t know she was coming, so he for sure didn’t intend for her to hear him perform that song. But he still wrote it. He said himself he writes what he’s feeling. She knew he felt something for her for sure, she could see in the way he looked at her, but to hear him say he’s willing to wait for her how long it takes is almost too much. How is she supposed to face him?
