"And now both Harry and Ron are angry with me because I had McGonagall take the firebolt and test it!" Hermione and I were sitting in the almost empty library and she was explaining to me why she was arguing with her two best friends. I understood why Hermione did what she did and it was smart; however, a broom that good could do wonders for the Gryffindor team.

"Hermione imagine if you were a quidditch player. I mean that broom is the fastest one to exist. Besides, why would someone go through all that trouble to jinx it? There are plenty of other ways to hurt someone." Hermione let out an exhausted groan and slammed her head on the table. Earning a sush from the librarian.

"Oh, not you too!" Hermione had been avoiding the common room and taking refuge here or at Hagrids. I joined her most of the time but when the rest of the school returned shortly after New Year's she never really had the chance to get away.

Yesterday at lunch I pulled my wand out on Pansy Parkinson because she kept going on about my relations with Sirius Black. The moment she returned to school was the moment I wanted to leave.

"Hermione. Where did you get the Time-Turner?" I asked suddenly. She lifts her head abruptly and her mouth opens and closes like a fish. "Don't bother trying to hide it. I already know you have one."

"What- but- how?" Stammered Hermione in a panicked tone.

"Oh, I didn't. But I do now," I smirked. I already had my suspicions but I needed her to confirm it.

"Well...I got it from McGonagall. She gave it to me at the start of this year. Ara, you can't tell anyone."

"I've got to ask Minnie for one of those. Imagine the pranks I could pull. I would have an 'alibi' for each one! That way I'd never get in trouble!" I schemed.

"Please don't talk to her. She told me not to tell anyone and if she found out I told you or that I was reckless enough to let you find out then she won't trust me ever again and then-"

"'Mione. Chill. I'm not telling anyone. I was only joking. Pranks are no fun anyway without the risk," I cut in. It was tempting but I wouldn't want to get Hermione in trouble.

Just then Mrs. Prince announced that the library would be closing in approximately two minutes. With that, Hermione and I gathered our things and went our separate ways. I had my first lesson with Lupin tomorrow and I didn't want to go in there looking like a tired sack of dried lamb chops.

I made it back to my common room and headed up to my dorm when a high-pitched voice stopped me.

"Hey, Black! Sneak any prisoners in tonight?" Pansy sneered from the green couch.

"Oh pug face please do save us the trouble and shut your mouth. No one cares," I resorted and turned away. At the top of the stairs, I saw a familiar face. "SYD! When did you get back!"

I practically jumped up the rest of the stairs and engulfed her into a hug.

I'm not typically a hugger but man I missed her.

"Got back in earlier today. I was going to surprise you at dinner but I didn't see you there so I waited here." We stepped into our room and both threw ourselves onto my bed.

"I have so much to tell you. Also, you look amazing! Did you cut your hair?" I asked.

"We most definitely do. And yeah I did. Do you like it?" Questioned the girl, grabbing a lock of her dark hair and looking at it.
