With Harry in first place with Krum, the next task not until February, and the professors busy with exam preparation, there was almost always a party in one—or all—of the common rooms.
Fred and George hosted many of the Gryffindor parties; they found it was a good place to sell their new creations. At the last one, Neville made the mistake of picking up the wrong custard cream, it was quite unfortunate but also a great demonstration.
I wish the Slytherins were more creative with their parties. I've been sitting on the common room couch for the past hour watching drunk 6th years shove each other around.
Being down here was not my idea; I was basically forcefully dragged down the dormitory stairs by Sydney.
"Snape is one of the most biased professors we have, we could light fireworks from the courtyard and he'd still find a way to blame the Gryffindors," I say, stretching my legs across Sydney and Theo's laps. "But one bottle of Firewhisky and 16 snogging corners is the best we can do?"
"I heard the Ravenclaws have a secret stash of joints that they use during their parties," sighed Theo, looking wistfully at the ceiling.
A boy just then crashed into the coffee table, spilling all of the cups onto the floor. He didn't even bother standing up or lying on the empty couch; he just closed his eyes and passed out.
Is it bad that I was envious of him?
"What about the Hufflepuffs?" Sydney asked in my direction, disregarding the commotion in front of us.
I rolled my eyes. "How would I know?"
She raised her brows suggestively and shrugged.
To be fair, I genuinely had no idea. Cedric invited me to their common room on Friday, but I had to say no. I considered it, but then I got too nervous.
I laid my head back on the armrest, momentarily closing my eyes. If I wasn't in a room full of stupid, reckless, and loud teenagers, I would fall asleep.
"Which one of you was it?" Draco demanded, now standing in front of our couch.
I opened my eyes again and squinted. "What is it you're going on about, cousin?"
"I had a bag of sweets sitting on this exact couch. A full bag." His interrogating gaze jumped from the three of us. "They are from my parents and very expensive. When I left an hour ago, they were here."
"Your parents sent you the good stuff, and I didn't get offered any?" Theodore remarked. I couldn't tell if he was actually offended or not.
"We didn't steal your shit Draco," assured Sydney.
I nodded. "She's right, but come to think of it, Blaise was sitting here before us. Ask him; I believe he went to the dorms."
With that, he angrily stormed up the stairs.
The second the door shut behind him, both of my friends turned their heads to me.
I'm not sure how they knew, but I leaned forward and pulled the bag of delicious-looking sweets from under the pillow. "Anyone want an overpriced piece of chocolate?"
