It was a moon since the battle. The Clans were finally at peace with each other. "Froststar, I wish to speak to you," Appleshade mewed as they settled down in Froststar's den.
"What is it?" she asked.
"I wish to resign as deputy," she replied. Froststar stared at her in shock. "But you have served the Clan for a few moons and you are nowhere near to retire as an elder."
Appleshade dipped her head. "There are more capable cats in this Clan worthy of becoming deputy than me. Plus, ever since that battle, I find myself limping more."
Froststar blinked. Appleshade had a serious leg injury from the battle when a rogue landed on her leg.
"What did Stagwind say?" she questioned.
"She says it is my choice," Appleshade mewed. "And I choose to resign." Froststar sighed.
"I respect your decision," she mewed slowly. "I will appoint a new deputy."
They stepped out of her den and Froststar yowled, "Let all cats who are old enough to catch their own prey to gather at Highledge for a Clan meeting!"
The cats came out of their dens, while Stagwind stayed at the entrance of her den. Sunstream looked tired, probably from the tiring moon if treating injured cats.
"Appleshade have chosen to resign," she announced when they have all gathered. "And I will appoint a new deputy."
"I say these words before StarClan, so that they would hear and approve of my choice," Froststar mewed. "Silvercloud will be the new deputy of ThunderClan."
"Silvercloud! Silvercloud!" they called out. Silvercloud looked surprised to be chosen while her littermates, Timberclaw and Dewsplash congratulated her.
Many cats approved of her choice, and Froststar is confident that Silvercloud will be a good deputy. She has good leadership skills, like her father.

ThunderClan have arrived at Fourtrees for the Gathering. Froststar dipped her head to Owlheart, who is probably Owlstar now, in respect.
ShadowClan have grown friendlier to ThunderClan, but Froststar know that they will always be loyal to their own Clan.
WindClan and RiverClan came next, side by side.
Greenstar nodded to her while Dovestar talked to Owlstar. "I will begin first," Owlstar mewed.
"I am the new leader of ShadowClan after Duskstar have lost his ninth life. We will miss his nobility, and his suitable decisions. Littletail is my deputy. We have also found our missing cats, who are unharmed."
"Owlstar! Owlstar! Littletail! Littletail!" the Clans yowled.
Dovestar spoke next. "WindClan have been doing well, recovering from the battle. We too, have found our missing cats."
Froststar stepped forward to speak next. "ThunderClan is recovering from the battle. Appleshade has chosen to resign and my new deputy is Silvercloud."
"Silvercloud! Silvercloud!" they called out.
Greenstar nodded and mewed, "RiverClan is doing well too, despite the oncoming leaf fall. Fish have also been running well for our Clan."
"The Gathering is over," Dovestar ended.
As ThunderClan headed back, Froststar found herself beside Foxspring, who she had made friends with when she was a warrior.
"How are you coping?" she asked.
Foxspring smiled. "I managed to cope, although there was many injuries. Hopefully I would get an apprentice soon."
"Hopefully it stays peaceful," Froststar mewed. "I faced too many troubles to count."
"Good luck when you meet one," Foxspring purred as she followed her Clanmates back to their camp.
~~~~
"Emberstorm!" Froststar called out. "What's wrong?" The ginger warrior was pacing near her den for the whole morning and he seemed agitated.
He took a deep breath. "Froststar, I wish to leave the Clan, for some time."
"Why?" she asked calmly."My parents," he mewed. "I know that they worry for me... and I can't stand it when I know that they would be upset when I go missing. I need to go back."
"What about Honeyfrost and your kits?" Froststar asked gently. "They will miss you too."
"They can cope," Emberstorm replied sadly. "I told them already. Honeyfrost had agreed."
Froststar sighed. It was a little too much to cope, with Appleshade resigning and Emberstorm leaving the Clan for some time.
"You follow your heart," she mewed slowly. "Therefore, I agree."
He nodded and began to leave the den. Suddenly, he stopped and turned around. "You love him, don't you?" he mewed. "You always had that look when looking at him, the same way I did when I was an apprentice."
She looked shocked and surprised. "Yes, I do," she replied. "But I don't know if he love me back."
"Follow your heart," Emberstorm purred. "Make decisions that affect the Clan in a good way, for many generations to come. You always known that."
Froststar finally felt a different but heavy weight being lifted off her. "Thank you," she mewed. "I wish you luck on your journey."
Emberstorm smiled. "You too."
"Why have you called me here, Froststar?" a tom asked. She shifted her paws nervously and she mewed, "I need to talk with you."
"Tell me," he smiled. "I'm listening."
"Who do you like?" Froststar asked, her heart thumping rapidly. The tom closed his eyes in thought.
"Well... there are many cats I like, but I particularly like one of them," he replied.
"Who is it then?" Froststar mewed, her paws so shaky that she thought she might collapse.
The tom's gaze became serious and he stared at her deeply. "I like you the most. Unlike the others, you are unique. Even though you have gone through a lot, you remained strong."
He paused, looking at her with guilt. "I knew that you have eyes for my brother, that's why I backed away for a while. After he died, I realised that I liked you, but you had to deal with grief in the Clan so I decided to not tell you until now. I once thought that I was to blame for not saving my brother from the badger, but I wasn't. Now, I would like to tell you that I love you, Froststar."
Froststar purred, finally knowing. There is always something else.
"I love you too, Patchheart."
