As the four Clans left ThunderClan territory, Silverstar stared at the middle of the camp. There lay Fernstorm's limp body, and disappearing traces of blood.
She dipped her head. Silverstar had lost another deputy and when she turned around to face the elder's den, she saw the limp body of Spottedpelt.
Russeteyes was licking her former denmate's pelt, silently mourning Spottedpelt's death.
Icepaw gazed at his mentor in shock and his pelt bristled in fear. Specklebreeze nudged her kit to his paws and led him to the medicine cat den.
Bluepaw was fine; she had been fighting with the elders, but Spottedpelt was not that lucky.
Hailfall stared at a tom with a ginger pelt that looked like flames. To her surprise, she realised it was Emberstorm, her former apprentice.
Silverstar padded towards him as Emberstorm talked with Hailfall. "Emberstorm, you are back," she mewed, but her voice was stained after the fierce fight with a Dark Forest cat.
He acknowledged it with a nod and mewed, "How is Honeyfrost?"
Silverstar looked around the camp and spotted his mate. "She is fine," she replied. "She wasn't very injured in the battle."
Emberstorm sighed in relief. A golden tom was padding towards her. He dipped his head respectfully and mewed, "I presume you are the leader?"
"Yes I am," Silverstar mewed. "My name is Silverstar."
"I am Goldenstar. My Clan have received a sign to help your Clan in this battle," he mewed formally.
Emberstorm nodded at Goldenstar with a knowing look and quickly rushed off to see his mate.
Hailfall went to get his wounds treated as Alderstep, a ShadowClan warrior, led a board-shouldered tom out of the camp. Although Silverstar had been sure that the cat was one of the rogues, he didn't fight ir resist as they left.
Owlstar nodded to her and mewed, "My cats and I are returning to our Clan. We will meet you at the next Gathering, Silverstar."
Silverstar smiled weakly. Despite the help from four other Clans, they have lost cats. Dovestar have left, leaving Greenstar in the ThunderClan camp.
Greenstar mewed a few words to Specklebreeze and padded off.
Hopefully, now that Longdrop is gone forever, the Clans will have peace, Silverstar thought. We have seen too many battles.
Goldenstar left the camp, with a cat called Gorgenight and some others following him.
When all the Clans left ThunderClan camp, Silverstar called for a Clan meeting. Bending her head down in grief, she began to explain.~~~~
When Alderstep brought Scar back to camp, the whole Clan was uncomfortable with it, some even hostile. He couldn't blame them; Scar was one of the rogues who fought.
Frogtail had died, and the Clan grieved for him. He was a brave warrior, Alderstep remembered.
"Alderstep," Owlstar mewed, "you want this rogue to join the Clan?"
"Yes," he mewed confidently.
Owlstar looked at Littletail, who nodded in approval. "I saw him fight on our side," Littletail mewed.
"Then from now now, this cat will be known as Brackenpaw," the ShadowClan leader announced. "His mentor will be Littletail."
"Brackenpaw! Brackenpaw!" the Clan called out.
Brackenpaw looked happy to be accepted and Alderstep nodded in relief. New allies are good.
~~~~
Greenstar returned to the camp, her paws aching from the battle. RiverClan had not lost any, much to her relief.
Sagewhisker had came out to greet her mate, Heavytail, with her three kits hopping after her.
"How's the battle?" Wavekit asked excitedly.
"Did you see dead cats?" Mistkit squealed.
"I wanted to go!" Wolfkit complained.
"Steady kits," he purred, "you will be apprentices in five moons. Then you might see battle. I hope you don't have to though."
"Greenstar!" Foxspring called out. The light gray she-cat turned to the young medicine cat and asked, "How are the injured cats?"
"I was coming to that," she mewed breathlessly. "Quailwing might not make it."
"What?" Greenstar mewed. "But she was fine when I saw her fighting!"
"Her injuries are deep," Foxspring mewed sadly. "But if Quailwing is lucky, she may survive it."
Greenstar looked at the medicine cat den worriedly. Quailwing was breathing heavily and she didn't look good.
Foxspring had padded towards her and give her poppy seeds. As Quailwing began to stand up, Foxspring frowned and tried to let her rest but the RiverClan deputy shook her off.
"Greenstar," she rasped as she reached her side.
Greenstar was shocked at the wounds on her pelt, and the urgency in her voice. "I am going to join StarClan soon," Quailwing sighed softly. "I am proud to serve under you."
Greenstar was suddenly aware that Quailwing stopped breathing and she realised her loyal deputy was dead.
She dipped her head and mewed to the Clan, "Quailwing is gone, but RiverClan will remain strong as I appoint the new deputy. I say these words before the body of Quailwing, so that she can hear and approve of my choice."
"Breezestorm will be the new deputy of RiverClan," Greenstar announced.
"Breezestorm! Breezestorm!" the Clan yowled in approval.
The young warrior dipped his head in acknowledgement as his littermate, Foxspring, padded to him and mewed to him warmly.
Clan life will go on, Greenstar sighed. But I have two lives left to lead my Clan...
~~~~
When Dovestar appeared from the camp entrance, Sparrowpelt ran towards her with a worried look.
"Dawnflight says that you lost a life in the battle," she mewed in concern.
"I'm fine," Dovestar insisted. "Treat the others first."
Sparrowpelt nodded and rushed to treat Watertail, who seemed the most injured, but alive.
Dovestar sighed in relief. Rabbitstar reassured that our Clanmates will be fine. He was right.
Rainfall and her mate, Woodear, were sharing tougues, happy that each other was safe.
"Let all cats who are old enough to run to gather at Tall Rock for a Clan meeting!" Dovestar yowled.
The Clan gathered, curious at what Dovestar was going to say.
"We have all fought well in the battle," Dovestar's voice became a purr. "And I am proud to fight along side my loyal Clanmates."
"WindClan! WindClan!" they yowled.
Dovestar was warmed by her Clanmates support. Thank you StarClan, for keeping my cats safe.
~~~~
"Hailfall, you will be the new deputy of ThunderClan," Silverstar announced. "I owe it to your littermate, and that you possessed good leadership skills."
Hailfall looked hesitant but he lifted up his head with pride as the Clan called out his name.
Fernstorm, I will do it for you and our mother. I promise.
