"Let all cats who are old enough to catch their own prey to gather at Highledge for a Clan meeting!" Froststar yowled.

Hailkit stared jealously at Stripekit and Berrykit, who were becoming apprentices. I wonder who are going to be their mentors, he thought.

"Stripekit and Berrykit have reached the age of six moons, and are ready to become apprentices. From this moment on, Stripekit, you will be known as Stripepaw." Froststar's gaze searched for a suitable mentor.

"Specklebreeze, you are an experienced warrior. Pass on your skills to Stripepaw," she mewed.

"Berrykit, from this moment on, you will be known as Berrypaw. Spikethorn, you are a brave and loyal warrior. Pass these on to Berrypaw," Froststar announced.

"Stripepaw! Berrypaw!" the clan yowled.

Honeyfrost looked at her kits proudly, with tears in her eyes and a feeling that Hailkit couldn't understand.

Fernkit was sitting beside him and she mewed, "I wish it was us."

Hailkit nodded.

"It will be your time soon," Patchheart mewed, gathering them with a sweep of his tail. "For now, I shall tell you a story."

"Tell us!" Hailkit mewed eagerly.

"Let's get comfortable and I will tell you," he mewed with a smile.

~~~~
"About five moons ago, there was a battle," Patchheart started. "Between a group of rogues and the Clans. Leading the rogues was Longdrop, formerly a warrior of ThunderClan. Most of us never thought that he would betray our Clan, being in it for so long."
"Then what happened?" Fernkit asked.
"Then, Froststar went to face him. She fought with the strength of LionClan and defeated him, saving the Clans," Patchheart finished.
"That was a great story," Hailkit yawned. Fernkit nodded sleepily as Patchheart carried them.
"Time to sleep," he mewed. "That's enough for a day."
~~~~

"Who would vouch for this cat?" a tom asked. Looking at each one of them, Fernkit couldn't recognise any cat.

"I will," another tom mewed fiercely. "She is my littermate, and will never betray the Clan easily!"

A black and white tom narrowed his eyes. "Adderstar, what do you think?"

"Who else?" the leader asked again.

A tabby tom stepped forward. "I do too. She must have made a huge decision to do it."

"Our two new warriors vouch for her. Tinystripe, what about you?" Adderstar asked.

"I disapprove of her decision," a small she-cat mewed. "But I can tell she truly liked the RiverClan tom. Therefore, I will vouch for her."

"Will Heronwing approve?" another tom challenged.

"He always wants the best for his kits," Tinystripe muttered. "I'm sure he will."

"Then it is settled," Adderstar mewed. "She stays and will not receive a punishment just yet."

Suddenly it fadded away and was replaced with a tom yowling with grief at a motionless body.

"Why?" he yowled. "Why does it have to be her?"

Another tom had a red kit at his paws, and he dipped his head in grief. "Who have done this?" he growled.

"It was ShadowClan," a she-cat replied. "They went straight for the nursery. The leader was leading it."

"Then I will avenge her," he snarled, storming out of the nursery.

It fadded away once more, this time showing the tom pinning down a big tom. "It was your fault!" he snarled, his eyes burning with hatred.

"It was your Clan's fault," the ShadowClan leader retorted. "If your Clan didn't attack first, none of this would have happened!"

"Whatever happens today," the tom growled dangerously. "You will die."

Fernkit winced as the tom struck the leader on the throat. But as soon as she spoke, she woke up.

~~~~
"Froststar?" Fernkit mewed, batting at her mother's paws. "Have you heard of a leader called Adderstar?"
"No," she replied in confusion. "Where did you heard that?"
"A dream," Fernkit mewed. "There was a battle and a decision thing or something."
Froststar stiffened and asked, "Did you see a dark gray tabby in your dream?"
"Yes," Fernkit replied. "Why do you ask?"
"Your dream might link to mine," Froststar mewed. "Keep it from other cats for now. Don't think about it so much."
"Okay," she mewed.
But as the ThunderClan leader walked away, memories of the dreams flooded her mind.
What is going on?
