Six months later...
Darkness. The void. Cold. Empty. Unfeeling is all Camila feels until...
Flashes of a throne room, a temple underground with a white three, then someone stabbing into it as blood pours out of it.
"Soon... Soon you'll know... What I know," Hailee's voice rings throughout Camila's dream.
Her ghost stands in front of Camila, the place where she got shot with the arrow dripping blood.
Hailee's ghost disappears as another woman appears out of the white smoke.
"Blood calls to blood. Flesh draws to the flesh. Soon all will burn," Her voice is ancient and strong with an accent.
Camila shoots up from her bed as her breathing is heavy. "What the fuck..." Camila whispers.
A hand gently grips her shoulder and Camila turns over to see...
"Camila? Are you okay?" Lauren questions softly.
Camila nods slowly as she speaks, "Yeah. I just had a bad dream."
"Mhmm. I see," Lauren leans against the headboard.
"I don't know what it was. It was just a bunch of images. This old temple, a tree with blood coming out, this woman saying how it'll all burn," Camila explains, leaning against the headboard as well.
"That's alarming," Lauren fixes her bra.
"It is?" Camila questions.
"Dreams can mean many things. Windows into the past, reflections into the present, or portents of things to come," Lauren explains.
"Well... Now I'm creeped out," Camila frowns.
"Don't be. Whatever it is," Lauren puts an arm around Camila's shoulders, "We'll get through it together," She adds.
"I should probably get to work, huh?" Camila throws the covers off herself as she stands up.
"As should I. We've got a busy day ahead of us," Lauren stands up as well.
Camila walks over to Lauren and places a hand on her shoulder. She tilts her head up slightly and kisses the green-eyed girl, long and deep, as she loses herself in the moment.
Lauren grips the girl by the waist as her fingers slip under her panties.
"I have to go," Lauren mumbles, breathing heavily when she pulls away.
"See you later," Camila smiles.
"See you," Lauren softly pinches Camila's cheek before changing rapidly and leaving.
Camila walks over to her closest and changes into a very professional outfit.
At Malik HQ, Camila exits the elevator to see Zayn waiting by her desk, he nods when she approaches him.
"Well don't you look like a gem," Zayn smiles.
"Always do," Camila smiles.
Zayn turns serious as he speaks, "What's on the agenda for today?"
Camila walks over to her desk and opens her planner. "Let's see here... A meeting for a new malaria vaccine, an appointment to speak with the candidates for Beckham's seat, and of course..." Camila trails off.
"The Council meeting," Zayn finishes.
"Yeah," Camila nods.
"It's strange. It's been six months since the feral incident. Six months since the confrontation with David. Yet it seems like it was just yesterday," Zayn stuffs his hands in his suit pant pockets.
