Chapter 1: The Landing
She turned off the engine of her car and looked up towards the white mansion that she used to call home. It had been months since she last been here and it was a good thing. Because a summon to the mansion usually would follow with yelling or worse, reduced appetite for two weeks straight. The butler, a familiar old but warm face of her old caretaker had already knocked her car window with a smile on his face. His presence used to be the only consolation she had in this expansive mansion, and she was just glad that he was still there to greet her.
Taking a deep breath and closing her eyes, she took her purse from the passenger seat and opened her car door. She smiled her practiced smile, though it was useless given the old man knew her better than her own parents.
"You're late, Miss Seri," he greeted her, "they already started the second course without you"
Seri rolled her eyes, but smiled warmly nonetheless. Wrapping her hands on his arm, she walked towards the massive double door.
"You know I don't eat dinner anymore, Seok Jin-ssi" to which the older man frown. He stopped walking and took a look at her slender frame. Then he tsk-ed her. He was one of the very short-listed person whom she allowed to do that to her.
"You're already bone skinny Miss Seri" he admonished her, "I will arrange for Min Ah to stock your kitchen more often from now on". To this she only smiled. These 2 people were the only thing that kept her kitchen from stocked only with bottled mineral water after all this time.
"So, where are they?" she asked once they passed the foyer, and she could literally feel the cold marble of the house seeped into her bones. The Yoon Mansion never changed.
"They're on the formal dining room, miss. Your father is ordering to cook roast beef, your favorite" he told her in kind, and she raised her eyebrows. With his nod, she walked faster and it took her less than 5 minutes to reach the formal dining room at the west end of the house.
The dining room doors were open, and immediately she was head to head with her mother. She was still the same as always, beautiful and graceful even in her mid-fifties. She saw the full formation of her family, which was never a good thing.
She nodded to her mother and walked to her father and bowed a bit. She saw that her place, the seat closest next to her father was still empty though plates of food were already been replaced with the main course.
"I'm sorry I'm late, father" she smiled to her father, "The meeting with the tourism board took longer than I realize"
Her father raised his eyebrows in interest and smiled at her. With a slight nod, he nudged her to her seat and she gracefully took her place. She smiled and nodded to her older brothers, Se Joon and Se Hyeong, and their respective wives. Only Se Joon and Hye Ji replied her smile and waved, while Se Hyeong and Sang Ah looked at her suspiciously.
"What business do you have with tourism board?" her father asked her, once she settled and picked on her dinner.
"The ministry is rounding up businesses that they can boost for tourism effort, Seri's Choice was included given our popularity. So, our product will be featured at some of drama series intended for international audience" she answered sweetly, knowing full well the dagger threw at her from her left. Se Hyeong and Sang Ah never responded well to her success.
"That's so awesome, Seri-ah" her sister-in-law Do Hye Ji clapped her hands while Se Joon nodded his head, "What kind of drama? Will they be aired at Netflix?"
Seri nodded, suddenly the roast beef tasted better in her mouth. "I cannot tell you the name of the drama yet, because it's still hush hush. But Kim So Hyun will star in it"
