The Tributes

Yoon Seri smiled to the well-dressed door man who opened the door for her. She gave the specific name they had arranged to him and the man nodded in understanding. The man escorted her to go to a private small room, where another woman had been waiting for her. The other woman smirked towards her and gestured for her to take a seat in front of her.

Seri gave her order for the drink, and slowly opened her wraps and put down her purse in a provided stool. No one would let a treasured Birkin to be put on the floor. The servant who was taking her order, bowed down and retreated through the small door where Seri came from; leaving the two very well dressed ladies in their own company.

"Have you ordered something?" Seri asked her guest (or host? It depended on who was being asked, in all things considered) while she browsed the menu book in front of her. The other woman raised her eyebrows and said she had ordered for both of them. Seri scoffed.

"Again? How would you know if I'm not in the mood for a fillet mignon?" she asked her and the woman rolled her eyes. Putting down the bubbly drink she had been having since before Seri came, she scoffed as she pat her lips with silk napkin.

"Since when you don't want to eat meat?" Seo Dan asked her pointedly and Seri had the grace to look sheepish. Decided to give the other woman a rest, she leaned back and looked around their surroundings. Though there was very little luxury of the world than Yoon Seri hadn't tasted, she couldn't help to be impressed on the richness of the room they were in.

"How do you know this place?" she asked the other woman. Seo Dan raised her eyebrows and tried to answer with her eyes, and Seri smirked.

"He has good eyes" was Seri's only comment, because soon after, a waiter came with her drink and she smiled her thank you. They spent the next minutes in comfortable silence as Seri took sips of her drink and she sighed in satisfaction.

"And good wine too, I'm impressed" she said. Dan looked at her intently, then with a slight roll of her eyes, she took a tote bag she stored under the table and gave it to Seri. Seri raised her eyebrows and smiled in gratitude when Dan nodded her head.

Seri opened the bag and found that there were several items inside of it. One of it was a small thumb drive that she expected to be there, but the other was a bigger box that she didn't expect. Looking up to her friend, she saw that Dan looked surprisingly serene and a bit sad.

"What is it, Seo Dan-ssi?" she asked. Dan's voice was trembled when she answered her.

"Just take a look, Seri-ssi" she said and Seri nodded. She took out the box to have a better look. The box was quite big in size, and made from a very luxurious material. It was like the box you would get when you buy luxury fashion item.

Seri gasped when she opened the tissue paper used to protect whatever was inside, and her tears were quick to collect in the corner of her eyes.

Inside the box, there were several items that she never thought she would ever see again. Once she left them in the North more than 8 years ago.

A yellow sweater that she used almost every day back then, for several reasons. First was because it was one of the only three sweaters she owned back then, and it was the warmest one. Second, was because the person who gave it to her always smiled wider whenever he saw her wore it.

Then there were several little scarves that she used to wear to tie her hair.

Her fingers trembled when she reached for the last item in the box; a little box made of velvet. When she opened it, she found two little gold cufflinks gleamed in the softly lit room they were in.
