A couple of months had gone by and all of us champions were called down to the quidditch pitch by none other than Ludo Bagman.
Me and Cedric walked down hand in hand, not having one idea of what was to come of this meeting. We reached the pitch and were immediately met with shouts of praise.
"Would you look at this fine couple here!" Bagman exclaimed, "Our two tied for first place! Such a beautiful relationship!"
I fought the urge to roll my eyes, me and Cedric had gotten together long before the tournament even began. I was about to speak up when Cedric squeezed my hand in a reassuring manner. I looked up at him and he only nodded.
"well then," Bagman clasped his hands together, "you all must be wondering why I have called you down here, and I am here to tell you! Looking behind me," he paused and gestured to the little shrubs behind him, "you can see a bunch of maybe, what? Four foot (1.2 meter) high shrubs that are going to be very, very tall by the time the third task rolls around. Now, can one of you guess what these will be growing to create?"
Nobody raised their hands to guess until Fleur did.
"Ah yes, Miss Delacour, what do you think?"
"well," she began, looking over at me and sticking her nose in the air, "I think they look to be growing in a pattern, no?"
"Very good observation Miss Delacour!" Ludo said, almost bursting out in excitement
"yes, well, if my observations are correct, it seems to be growing into," she paused for dramatic effect, I simply just rolled my eyes and finished it for her
"a maze." I stated simply, yawning and placing my head on Cedric's shoulder
"Ding, ding, ding, and little Queen Alarie has gotten the answer correct!" Ludo shouted, Fleur huffed, and I rolled my eyes as Cedric chuckled
"Now the task is simple, the triwizard cup will be placed somewhere within the maze for you to find. Whoever gets to the cup first gets full marks and immediately wins the tournament. Now, you may be asking, 'Oh Mr. Bagman, that seems so easy... what's the catch?' and I'm here to tell you. This is no ordinary maze, you will have to break spells and curses, and you will be faced with an array of different magical creatures, courtesy of Hogwarts' gamekeeper Hagrid! Now, now, I know it is sad to see me go," he flipped his obnoxiously blonde hair, "but that is all, now off you go!"
I looked back at him as me and Cedric began walking away and crinkled my nose in disgust.
"who does that man think he is?"
Cedric chuckled, "no clue"
-
"but I don't wanna study!" I groaned into my pillow that Nicolette threw at me
"You heard the weird, old, blonde dude! This isn't an ordinary maze Bellie! You must be prepared! I don't know if I could handle it if you..." she trailed off, her voice growing weaker with every syllable
I got up off my place on my bed and walked over to her, wrapping my arms around her immediately.
"I told you Colie, I'm not going anywhere." I murmured into her hair
"I know, I just... worry." she sighed, squeezing me once more before letting go
"Just know that no matter how hard you try you are NEVER going to get rid of me." I laughed and she began laughing along with me
"Why would I even try?" she laughed out
We both eventually found our way onto my bed, enchanting my ceiling to show us the stars in the night sky. I saw one particular star in the sky that would always stand out to me.
"Hey Colie," I said, looking over at the dark skinned girl
"yea Bellie?"
"do you see that star?" I asked, pointing to one of the brightest stars in the sky
"yea, what about it?"
"That's Sirius."
