Flashback, August 16,2008

Third Person POV:

"But daddy why do you have to go ?" 5 year old Amena asked her dad, as he kneeled down in front of her in their driveway.

"Daddy gotta go baby okay, just know that i will always love you okay" Adonis said to his daughter, knowing what he had coming to him.

"I'm gonna miss you daddy, I'm sorry" Amena hugged her dad crying.

"I'm gonna miss you too baby girl, why are you sorry ?" he asked her.

"because daddy you're leaving because i was bad, and i'm sorry daddy i'm sorry" Amena explained crying harder in the crook of her dad, Adonis' neck.

"baby girl look at me, you didn't do anything wrong okay. You are beautiful, smart, and you are a prize don't let anybody tell you different okay, I love you always" he said to Amena

"and forever " Amena finished. They interlocked pinkies with their thumbs sticking out and placed a gentle kiss on the pads of their thumbs.

"Now be good for your mom and brother. I'm always gonna be here okay" he said pointing to her chest where her heart is located.

Before Amena could respond, tires screeched in front of her driveway and she was pushed aside by her dad who then took 13 bullets to the chest.

His lifeless body fell right beside Amenas who was stuck, not hearing her mother's scream coming out the door and her brother trying to get to her.

"I-I l-love you B-a-babygirl" Adonis successfully said with blood spurting out of his mouth to Amena before he died.

"daddyyyy!!" Amena screamed hugging his lifeless body on the floor, tuning out all the commotion around her.

Her body was lifted off Adonis by her brother jasiah who was 9 at the time.

Her body was covered in her dad's blood.

Flashback, June 15,2018

"Siah, can we go to the store? I want some snacks and ion wanna go by myself" 15 year old Amena asked her older brother Jasiah.

"Yea, cmon lil bit" he told her, ending his phone call and standing up.

The corner store was a block away so they decided to walk.

"Siah, remember them girls I told you about that was trynna bully me"

"Yea, what you did to them bra" he chuckled already knowing that his sister did some damage.

"Me and Lia beat they ass, cause they had the right trick but the wrong chick, don't be trynna bully me the fuck ion even say shit to them" Amena said

"On god, aye you know i got you ia air that bitch out fa yuh just say it" Siah said and they both started laughing.

"you always trynna shoot some shit nigga damn" Amena said laughing.

"the fuck you think i got a gun fa, decoration" Siah asked with an eyebrow raised making Amena bust out laughing.

"shietttt you right, when i get me a gun ian fighting no more, I'm shooting fuck what they talm bout" Amena said

"The right wayyyy !" Siah said, dapping her up.

Amena walked in the door, Siah a couple seconds behind her since he stopped to speak to people. She picked up a bag of voodoo chips with twizzlers, sour patch, cotton candy pickle, and 2 brisk. When she got to the front Jasiah was already up there waiting for her.

"Lemme get Raws paper and 2 of them backwoods Mahumed" Siah said to the cashier.

He handed them to Siah then turned his attention to young Amena as he rang them up.

"You bought them grades up mena" he asked.

"Yes" Amena answered lowly because her brother hadn't known about her skipping school.

"What grades, mena i thought you said you was straight in school" Siah said.

"What she been doing Mahumed ?" Siah asked the cashier. He looked at Amena because he felt like he just betrayed her but he knew how Jasiah was about his little sister so he told him.

"She's been skipping school, but don't even worry about it cause i made sure she stopped so she good now" he answered but quickly assured that she was good as well.

"aight preciate ya Mahumed" Siah said as he dropped a 50 and left the change then grabbed their bags and walked out with Amena following behind him.

"Amena" Siah said. she knew he was mad because he always calls her Mena, lil bit, or other names but her full name.

"yes siah" Mena answered him.

"Why you skipping school, Amena ? what i told you bout that shit" Siah asked her.

"I'm sorry Siah okay but my last 3 periods are always hard, or the teacher always picking on me" she answered.

"Amena I don't care" he said sternly and she looked down feeling herself about to cry because she hated to make her brother mad. They had a very good bond. Jasiah noticed so he softened up.

"Amena listen, i'm so hard on this school shit because i don't want you to be a dropout like me okay, i just want you to walk across that stage and fulfill yo dreams okay, promise you gon do that" Siah said to her as they continued walking home.

"I promise, and I'm sorry i'm going to stop okay" Amena answered.

"Aight and you better, I Love You lil bit" he said to her.

"I Love You Too Siah" She responded.

"Always" Siah started

"And forever" Mena finished as they got closer to their house.

Amena heard Tires screeching and felt a sense of deja vu when she seen the guns stick out the windows of a car driving by where they were walking.

Jasiah hurriedly pushed Amena to the ground, then he was riddled with bullets.

As the car sped off Amena caught a look at one of the people in the car.

She jumped up from the ground and ran to her brother who was still breathing. People were outside being nosey while she was trying to cater to her dying brother.

"Somebody Help! Please! Call 911 !" Mena screamed out looking around her, holding her brother's head on her lap as he bled out.

"Please Jasiah please stay please I love you okay please don't leave like daddy please i'm sorry" she started ranting while crying and rubbing on his face.

"Mena I love you okay always" He said to her because he knew there was no way he would survive that.

"NOOOO ! Jasiah No you're not leaving me okay Stop! Stop! Stop!" Amena cried harder.

"Mena please, I love you always" Siah said.

"and forever" she answered crying.

Jasiah closed his eyes, he was officially dead.

Mena stayed like that until the ambulance came and took his body away in a body bag.

When Amenas father died, she lost a piece of herself, a piece of her humanity considering he died in her face. When her brother died, in her arms, she completely lost herself, he was her other half, she loved him more than she loved herself. She completely shut the world out except her best friend aurelia and 3 of the boys who's been with her through everything. Everyday she fights her demons.
