Astrid's P.o.v.

I felt as though the ground was being torn out from beneath my feet as I realised what Amy in this state meant - one of us might have to kill the other. I tried not to think about this and let emotions cloud my judgement. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes for a second so that when they snapped open I was deadly calm.

"Why am I here?" I asked. My voice was steely as it reverberated off the towering walls around me.

"Because you are an asset." He replied looking smug.

"How so?"

"I had assumed you were intelligent enough to figure it out by now but evidently..."

"I get it. I'm Asgardian and you wanted me dead before having sudden change in heart it would seem... Contrary to your belief I am not stupid; I know there is plenty more information you are withholding from me. You are going to tell me everything I don't already know if you want me to cooperate." I said firmly.

"Is that so?", he laughed a little, "I have you in chains with four guards present and you think you are in a position to make demands. No - what you are going to do is listen to my proposal first."

I felt furious but accepted that what he said was probably true. I shifted my weight to the other foot and nodded as if to say 'proceed' as it was the best I could do to mock him without being rash. Sure enough I struck a nerve, his eyes flashed with anger but he soon composed himself. I smiled.

"I am in charge here at this H.Y.D.R.A. facility and I am offering you a high standing position in this organisation."

"You know I will decline..." I mused waiting to hear what the inevitable catch was.

"If you do that I will have you compete against some of the other...specimens... In my arena for sport. I thought I'd give you a fighting chance at least" he grinned.

"How generous of you!" I spat sarcastically in reply.

"Perhaps it would be better to have you executed at dawn?" He hisses

"How very medieval of you, I assume you mean by firing squad in reality, not by beheading me?" I ask nervously.

"Let's not be hasty, I'm sure you will not decline such an offer."

"What makes you so sure?"

"Before you make your decision you should also know that I will order Amy to kill you in that arena and I know you will not kill her despite how infinitely lost she is."

My heart sank as I knew he was right. I looked at Amy who was staring at me with cold calculating eyes. He piercing purple gaze made me shudder and I had to tear myself away. I glared at Alejandro instead.

"And you assume that it would not be merciful of me to kill her before you can put her to use as a weapon of this organisation, that I could not destroy the shell that once was my best friend so that she may be remembered only as the good person she was?" I bluffed.

"If what you say is true - which I sincerely doubt - then consider this. You have a twin brother. You escaped this facility along with Amy and left him behind. He is loyal to H.Y.D.R.A. and to me. He is a fine warrior and has had time to develop his magical abilities, there is so much he could teach you. Surely you do not wish to kill your best friend and then have to fight your own brother too?" His smile widened as he saw the emotions flash across my face; confusion, pain, sadness, desperation and finally a simmering anger which spread to the very depth and breadth of my being.

"I will not join you. I do not serve filth like you" I hissed.

"Are you sure? You think you are following your moral compass, how quaint. If death is what you wish... Or are you ready to become a killer? Surely that makes you no less virtuous than me..." He mocked.
