**Meanwhile in Alejandro's throne room...** ((no-one's p.o.v.))
"I got what you wanted sir, here is the sceptre" the shapeshifter said offering it to Alejandro who rose from his throne.
After inspecting it he looked displeased; "...and the girl, is she dead yet... the other one, my dear Amy, where is she? I told you I wanted you to bring her to me and kill her friend before they realise how powerful they can be."
The assassin shifted from foot to foot and answered; "she was difficult to kill at close range so I had the parachutes who bailed out of the S.H.I.E.L.D. aircraft shot down"
"You are an idiot... Did you not think that they would be together and that you might be killing Amy too?" Alejandro questioned rolling his eyes.
"Well I um, no sir. It was a mistake but we couldn't afford to lose them a second time."
"Y'know, I had such high hopes for you. I was told that you were the best guy for the job but it looks like you can't even take care of a couple of not more than teenage girls..." He pointed at him with the sceptre as he paced up and down.
"With all due respect sir, the one I encountered nearly killed me just by looking at me. She sent a pencil through my eye socket and she barley moved, she has magic and great power. I'm surprised you didn't want me to kill the other one and bring her to you, surely she'd be more useful?"
Alejandro stopped pacing and turned to face him. "She is not programmed, we cannot control her. The power she possesses isn't limited and it can grow depending on what she learns... Have you met any other Asgardians?"
"You mean like Thor or Loki, no I've never met any, but I know who they are."
"They are gods and she is a goddess. Many years ago as a side-branch for our project aiming to produce the ideal assassin, one who questions nothing because you can keep wiping their memory clean and 'programming' them, we sent a couple of soldiers using the last remaining fuel that was harnessed from the tesseract by Zola for his weapons across to another realm. Once they were in Asgard they searched for some specimens to bring back to help us with our experiments. We wanted the Asgardian's strength most of all but little did we know the brother and sister we collected would have magical abilities. We found ways to extract and duplicate some of these from the girl, Astrid, and give them to another child whom we modified, Amy. She would be trained as she grew up to become a younger generation perfect assassin - or so we hoped. One day the Asgardian girl strangled one of the doctors and escaped taking Amy with her and they killed many of the guards on their way out. Her brother Luca remained in our captivity and has since become a valuable asset himself; his mastery of dark magic also gives him great power. If I could control them both then I would but I don't know how powerful Astrid is at the moment and I'm not prepared to risk losing my best experiment to gain her powers for this organisation. Have you killed them?"
"I'm certain they can't have survived sir."
"Well that's unfortunate because I've already found myself my lost project and the dark elf she was with so now all that's left is to kill Astrid and the people she is travelling with. You have failed my friend!"
"But sir, I-"Suddenly the doors to the great hall were thrown open and someone marched in accompanied by a small group of soldiers.
"Is that-?" The assassin asked as his jaw dropped.
Alejandro nodded and smiled.
"I'm afraid he'll be replacing you."
The new assassin walked up to Alejandro.
"Take care of him, but not in here I don't want his blood to ruin my carpet."
The assassin forcefully grabbed the shapeshifter by the shoulder and dragged him back towards the doors.
"Alejandro, stop this. I'll never fail you again I swear!"
"Oh I know you won't; that's what he's about to make sure of"
"You crazy son of a bitch!""STOP!" Alejandro barked.
The new assassin halted as Alejandro stormed over to the shapeshifter with sceptre in hand. Once he got close enough he put his face right up to his and hissed; "If you don't take it back I'll make you the subject of some of my understudies' poorly conducted experiments and you'll be begging for me to kill you instead."
"I have regenerative abilities I can stand torture! That's what makes me valuable, I never squeal. -and I won't take it back because it's true, your behaviour is psychotic and you are delusional - you think that your experiments are successful, ha! If you ask me I just think you were trying to live up to Zola's legacy and failed miserably like everyone else. Your 'projects' are pathetic; none of your 'assassins' turned out perfectly did they? You wanted the girl back but what if you can't fix her now you have her, what then? You aren't special, you'll never make one like the W-"
