I got home about an hour before Dorian said he would be home. I decided that since I was going to have to ask Dorian for permission, I was going to have to butter him up. Get him in a good mood before I asked. I really want to work.

I started to cook up some steaks. Mine very well done, to the point that there was not a trace of pink, and his as rare as it can be while still being healthy. By the time that I finished making my salad, Dorian was commenting on how good it smelled.

He walked around the corner to the kitchen and sighed.

"What a way to come home after a long day of work. What's the occasion?" he asked. I laughed, pretended like it was a joke.

"Well, it's your first day back on a normal work schedule, and mine with trying to figure out what to do for the day. Figured it was difficult for both of us. Might as well end it well." I smiled. It wasn't a lie. It was hard today. Just not a bad one. I motioned for Dorian to sit down. We started eating and I asked him questions about his day. He mentioned some stuff about how the employees where getting restless, so he figured he would have an employee banquet of some sorts after the next big project. Just to give them some relax time. They have all been working hard, and deserved a break.

After a bit more conversation, we decided to watch some show of his in the living room. I coudle into his side as some guy pretended to be a psych. His poor friend keeps getting pulled into his ridiculousness.

It's pretty funny, but we both have had a long day. After one episode, we turn off the system and tv, and head to bed.

After we had changed and brushed our teeth, we lay in bed, me curled up to his side. I guess now was as good of a time as any...

"Hey Dorain, I got a question.."

"What is it?" He ask, already getting tired.

"Do you think I could get a day job? Just something to do during the day, while your still at work. Only on weekdays." next thing I know, he is sitting up, and I almost feel off the bed. I looked up at him, and his eyes were full of mixed emotion. He looked at me with those eyes that made me beg for answers.

"What's wrong? What are you thinking?" I asked.

"Why would you want a job? I can provide. You don't have to worry about money." he asked. Oh.. OHH! He is having one of his jealous controlling thought process.

"That's fine, I don't really care about the money. I just want something to do while your at work. One of the guys from the coffee shop said they were low on people. I would be home before you got home, and I would only work when you work. It's near your work, so I could drop by every once in a while for lunch..." I tailed off. In the end, it's his decision. I mean, he has lived hundreds of years. I've only lived 13. And besides, I would need fake information anyway. Can't use my real last name or use my real social security. If my parents tracked us down, Dorian would be pissed. Who knows what kind of mess that would make.

"At the coffee shop? The one we go to often? And who told you they were hiring?" Good. If he is asking questions, it means he is open to discussing it.

"His name is Sam. He normally works the later shifts, but because they are low on people, they have been making him work mornings." I said calmly. He shifted in the sheets for a minute before laying his head back against the pillow. I moved closer to him so I could feel his heat. I looked down at him and my eyes traveled down his exposed chest. He always slept without a shirt, but I guess the moon light changed the view. It seemed to catch my eyes while I was trying to focus on the conversation.

I'm glad that I was in the shadows. It stopped him from seeing me and my wondering eyes.

"How did he even tell you? Did you get coffee today?" he asked, sighing to himself.

"We ran into each other on the street. I was watching a performer. He recognized me from our many trip."

"What did you tell him?" his voice went a little sour, so I laid down next to him, my head on his chest. I wrapped my arm around his torso, and drew circles with my thumb, and waited till he calmed down. Once his tension was gone, I spoke up, my fingers still tracing circles.

"I told him it was up to you. That you had to say yes before I can make the decision. I don't want to make you worry about me. I just don't know how I can handle being stuck in the house all day, every day." I wonder if he will say yes or no. I pulled my lip in between my teeth and bit down. I nibbled on it while he was thinking. I took a chance and looked up at him.

He was looking at me with a small smile on his lips. I wonder what that was about...

"So...." I said. I bit my lip, knowing it drove him a little crazy. I looked down before looking up at him with wide eyes, head still angled down. I was giving my best hurt puppy look. Let's just hope it works.

"You have to eat lunch with me at least three times a week, and you have to be off before I get off normally. I normally get home at six, so if you can be home before that, then I'll allow it. If you are going to be late, you have to call me. No excuses." he said, with a sigh. He was trying to be stern, but it wasn't really working, because I was way to happy to have something to do. I've never liked being stuck in one place for long. Even when I homeschooled, I still go to the park often.

A smile stretched across my face, and I wrapped my arms around his neck in a quick motion. He was a little shocked, but otherwise, he just pulled his arm around my waist. I leaned back and placed a kiss on his cheek, and then his lips.

"Thank you so much. I promise, I'll make sure to follow all the rules. I promise. You won't regret it!!!" I was so happy, and he just chuckled and pulled me closer. I could feel his breath on my lips, and I knew my face was a very bright shade of red. I just realized in my quick, not-so-thought-out idea to hug him, I had managed to land completely on top of him.

I can't believe I just did that.

With his hot breath fogging up my vision, I was certain that he was going to kiss me. And I wanted him too. But suddenly, he flip us to the side, me wrapped in his arms like that of a child who had a nightmare. He held me close, and I could hear a faint heart beat. It was so faint, I could barely make it out with my ear pressed against his chest.

I wonder if this is how we will end up every night. Me curled up next to him, falling asleep to his vampire heart beat. Gosh I missed him today. That's why I need this job. I don't want to be strictly dependent on Dorian. If this relation ship is going to work, I need to be able to do something other than stay at home and wait for him.
