After I finished making my popcorn, I sat down in the living room to distract myself with a new show. I heard Supernatual was pretty good. I've already watched Doctor Who, and Sherlock. Might as well.
Two bowls of popcorn and twelve episodes later, I hear the door bell for the gate ring. I got up as quickly as I could. Who could it be? What if it's important? to the left of the front door, there is a little screen to show the front gate. The house is kind of grand, but the fence is as tall as one story, wrapping around the whole property.
In the screen showed a woman, with sunglasses and a big hat to cover her face. Who is this? I pushed the button on the side of the screen.
"Hello, how can I help you?" I said into the microphone. The woman turned to the speaker box.
"Hello, I wish to meet with Dorian. Is he here right now by any chance?"
"I'm afraid he's at work. Would you like to leave a message or come back later?" I asked, try to get her to tell me what she is here for.
"Would you mind if I came in for awhile? Its personal business. I have the key to the house, but the pin was changed recently and I don't quite remember the new one." To prove she was telling the truth, she held out a key in her hand. I guess I could open the gate and wait to see if it really is the key to the house.
So that's just what I did. I opened the gate from the panel next to the door and backed up a few feet and waited. Sure enough, I hear the click of the door as its lock is moved from its resting place. In she walks, this woman who still hasn't introduced herself.
As soon as the door is shut again, the woman begins to take off her glasses and her hat. Now that I can see her, I kind of feel intimated. She is gorgeous, with long auburn hair and deep brown eyes. Her skin is perfect, without any sigh of a pimple or a scratch on her. She seemed to carry her self with a hint of power, like nothing could touch her.
She is obviously a vampire, but how does she know Dorian? Old friends? Old lovers? I hope not... How am I suppose to compare to her? I'm barely considered a teenage boy, and I know once I hit puberty, my face is going to be a mess, my voice will crack, and I'll be an awkward mess.
She turned to me, a slight tilt of her head, seeming to examine me. Was there something on my face? We stood there in odd silence before her eyes seemed to widen a bit. What the?
"Is that popcorn I smell?"
Wait.
What?
"Yeah I just made some. Do you want some while you wait?" I offered. It doesn't matter who she is, if she is on good terms with Dorian, then she will be treated like a guest. I can't just keep her waiting. that would be rude. brushing off her stare earlier, i smiled.
"Yes please. I don't think I've had popcorn in at least twenty years." Yup, definitely a vampire considering she doesn't look a day over 27. She could pass as my older sister if it wasn't for the fact that she held herself with such maturity and charm.
"Well, how do you like it?" I asked, walking towards the kitchen. She followed. I just can't get over how perfect she seems to be. even the echo in her footsteps are perfectly timed, and you can barely hear the click of her heels as they hit the tile floor.
"With butter and salt. Lots of butter preferred." She inched her hand along the counter before jumping so she could sit on it. I don't mind. I like to sit on the counters too. Especially when Dorian is cooking. even if we aren't talking, he is so cute to watch. He mutters to himself a lot, and sometimes you can hear him having a small debate over what seasonings to use, or which step he should do next. and then when he notices what he is doing it, he gets this shy smile and apologies.
