I woke up a few hours before Dorian. I assume since he is a vampire, he probably sleeps all day. I had a debate on whether I wanted to get up or not, but decided to go and make breakfast. I just made some bread with nutella and banana. After eating, I went to the library and found a random book, sitting down in a chair and reading.

I have always loved reading. It became one of my obsessions after I became home schooled. With out any real social interactions, books became my link to the outside world. I would read when ever I got the chance. After realizing that I loved books, especially fiction, Dorian stocked up on all different kinds. I was reading years ahead of my age, and I loved it. And every book I read, he would read too, just so we could discuss our opinions about it.

He was always trying to make sure that I was comfortable. If I was cold, he would warm the place up, or cuddle with me. If I wanted a certain thing for dinner that night, he would make it, even if he didn't really like it.

I think the only thing he has ever told me no for, was me going home. Every time I brought it up, he would get so stubborn. Once when I was 8 or 9, I asked if I could not visit for one night. He then went on a rant about me being selfish, and how he never really got to see me, and he only sees me for once a month, and how he was not giving up his time.

I gave up on asking after a hour of him ranting. I haven't really ask about it much since either. I'm a bit curious about the curse though. And how did Dorian know that he loved me from the moment I was born.

Suddenly, I heard a sound from the kitchen. I froze, listening. The noise was quiet, so it couldn't have been Dorian. The moment he would realize I wasn't in bed, he would have come running to find me, and he wouldn't be sneaky about it. I put the book down on the chair, and rose to find the culprit. I took a sword that Dorian had on the wall of the library, and moved out of the room. As I peaked around the doorway, I saw a man standing in the kitchen, going around the fridge. For what, I didn't know, but he was tall and bigger than me. Swiftly, I moved around the kitchen, making sure he couldn't see. It wasn't till I cleared my throat, the sword pointed directly at him, that he turned around.

He looked at me with a question in his eyes.

"Who are you?" I asked, my voice clear and demanding.

"Who are you?" He asked back, not even blinking, but looking down at the sword, and back up at me.

" I asked you first."

"And I asked you more recently." He said, rolling his eyes.

"Well, you don't belong here, so you have to answer first." I said, sternly.

"Oh, and you do?" He asked.

Suddenly he was in front of me. I went to swing the sword, but he grabbed my hand and twisted it, causing the sword to fall to the ground and me to wince in pain. He pushed me up against the wall with such strength, that it looked like he was playing with a feather. He pinned my arm above me and looked down at me.

It was then that I got a good look at him. He had short Brown hair, and blue cold eyes. He was well muscled. Compared to him, I looked like a kid. But I guess I was.

When he smiled, I saw fangs poke out of his teeth.

"I don't know what your doing in this house human, but you are going to regret it." He slowly tried to lean forward, his mouth open. I pushed him away with my free hand, but he easily pinned it with my other one. I struggled under the grip, and I could feel his breath on my neck, and shivered in disgust.

"No... NO! DORIAN!!!" I screamed as I felt his jaw flex. And then I was free, the body that was pinning me was nowhere to be found. I turned around and saw that two bodies had slammed into the fridge. Great, now it's got a dent in it.

Dorian and the stranger were against the fridge, Dorian pinning the other man to it, his eyes flaring. Suddenly, Dorian let go, and the man gasped and fell to the floor.

"What the hell man?" The stranger gasped.  But Dorian ignored him. He quickly went over to me and looked me all over. His eyes were wide, and panic seemed to be his only emotion.

" are you ok? did he hurt you? Do I have to kill him? What happened? Why weren't you in bed?" He was popping one question after the other, I didn't have time to answer. I would open my mouth, only to be interupted. Gesh, he can be annoying. I pulled my hand up and covered his mouth.

"I'm fine. I was reading in the library, and I heard noise. Who is that?" I asked. He sighed, looking over at the man. And this point, he was just getting off the ground.

" that is Mark. He is a bodyguard that works for my family, though I have no clue what he is doing here." I watched as Dorian glared at the man. Mark just rolled his eyes.

" your mom sent me to come get you. She wants you to come home. Says she has to discuss with you something important. And then I get here, and I go to look for something to eat, and this little bitch attacked me." I watched Dorian tense up as Mark said the B word.

"If I ever hear you say something so degrading to or about Blain ever again, it will be the last words you get to speak, got it?" Dorian growled harshly. I watched as  Mark got taken aback by his suddenly angry. Dorain was a dangerous man once you got on his bad side so it can't be help that Mark would fear him.

I put my hand on Dorain's shoulder. He looked back at me and his expression softened.

" its ok, we were both at fault. I shouldn't have raise a sword to him. Calm down, it's not that big of a deal." I smiled reassuringly at him, and he smiled back, taking my hand off his shoulder, and holding it. When he turned back to Mark, He just kind of sat there, eyeing us.

"You said mother has something to discuss with me. Do you know what it is about." Dorain asked, his voice calm and controlled. Mark raise an eyebrow but answered none the less.

" I don't know. She wouldn't say what." He responded coolly.

"Fine, tell her I'll be there in the morning. I have matters to attend to tonight." Dorain spoke cooly. Mark nodded and headed for the door, eyeing me and Dorain, our hands still locked together.

" oh" Dorain said before Mark could leave, causing him to stop in his tracks.

" don't speak a word about Blain to mother. I plan to talk to her about it myself." He said, his voice serious. Mark just nodded and left. When Dorain was sure he had left. He breathed a sigh of relief.

" come on. We need to get you dressed so that we can go shopping. I have to get you all the stuff that you need for living here." He said, smiling as he pulled my hand and walked me back to the bed room. When we got there, Dorain rushed off to find me something to wear in his closet. And as he disappeared into the closet, I could feel myself shaking. When I looked down at my hands, they were trembling uncontrollably. Why? The danger was gone, so why did I feel so scared. I crouched down into a ball as I felt my self shake. I heard Dorain ask something, but I couldn't respond. What was wrong with me?

Suddenly, I felt Dorain's arms wrap around my shoulders, and pull me close to him.

"Shush. Shush darling. Everything's ok. I'm here, and your safe. Shush. Everything is fine." I heard Dorain comfort me, and I moved closer to him. His hand rubbed circles into my back, and I sobbed.

" shush. Its fine. I'm right here honey. I'll be right here. No need to fret. Shush. I'll always be by your side." He continued his comforting till I had calmed completely down.

When I pushed him away, just enough so I could look up at him, I rubbed the tears away.

" I'm sorry. I don't know what came over me. I just... suddenly I..." I looked down sheepishly.

" it's ok to be frightened. Just remember, I'm here for you. I'll always be here. When ever you need me, I'll be there, guaranteed." He said, looking down on me. I smiled and he smiled back.

" now come on. We have things to do." He grinned as he picked me up to my feet. I giggled as he ran into the closet, popping me in the air before catching me, and caring me like a damsel in distress. After getting dress, we headed for the town, smiles back on our faces.
