HARRY'S POV

The call came in the middle of the night.

I sat in bed, curled in a ball. My body was trembling, tears streaming down my face, mind all over the place.

It was true. Maddie was in a plane crash. That wretched accident occurred in the Pacific Ocean, off the cost of the UK. Nobody would tell me what was happening, the news had stopped reporting on the incident considering it was four in the morning. I called hospitals all over the country, and checked in at airports but none of them could tell me if Madeline Richards had survived.

All of the boys had left when they realize I was inconsolable.

Therefore, here I am. Sitting in bed, sobbing like a baby. I should be ashamed of myself. But at this point, who cares?

As I was saying, the call came in the middle of the night. My phone laid on the pillow behind me and I jerked my arm backwards to grab it. The caller ID said "Unknown Number."

This is it. My life is in the palm of my hands. I could be the happiest man alive, or the most depressed. This is it.

"Hello?" I answered uneasily.

"Mr. Styles?"

"Y-yes." Dear lord.

"I'm calling about your- uh, fiancé? Yes. Fiancé."

"Yes, what has happened?"

"We apologize for not notifying you earlier, but her plane has crashed." Obviously. "The plane crashed right off shore of the country. We were able to save three people, one being her."

"Oh my god, thank you! Thank you so much!" I couldn't breathe. This was the best day of my life. She's alive, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

"The ceiling collapsed on Miss Richards, crushing the lower half of her body. Doctors performed emergency surgery, saving all limbs, but Miss Richards is paralyzed from waist down."

Paralyzed? No, she can't be. Wait, I should be thankful that is all that is wrong.

"Uh, could you please explain further?" I asked uneasily.

"Of course. The paralysis can be life long, or temporary. There is no way of knowing until she awakes. Madeline is at St. Bernard's Hospital in Chesire. Though she is asleep, I suggest you coming here straight away. It's crucial she has her loved ones around her when she awakes."

I had started packing before the man said finished the sentence.

"Also, we removed the tumor from Madeline's liver. It was spreading quickly and we thought it would be better to remove it now."

"You did what?!"

"We... Removed her cancer?"

"This cannot be true! She didn't tell me! She must not have known right?"

"On my record, it says she has been seeing Dr. Sephore for several months now at a hospital in London. Does that ring a bell?"

Maddie has cancer? Cancer? why didn't she tell me? She could have died and she didn't tell me? How could this be true?

Grabbing random items from drawers, I threw everything in a bag and sprinted out to the car.

The bag was tossed into the back seat as I started the engine. Looking over my shoulder as I drove out of the driveway, my mind was racing. She is alive. She was paralyzed. She is alive. She's alive. She's alive. She's alive.
