Chapter 7

Harry and I drove in silence until He finally started to break the tension.

"Mads.. I have to tell you something."

"Shoot."

"Well, There's good news and bad news."

"Just tell me harry!"

"Okay. I broke up with Lily."

"Finally!" I exclaimed.

"Because I like someone else."

My heart stopped. But why? Why would this matter to me? Do I.. Like harry? Is that possible? Madeline Styles.. Sounds good. WAIT- WHAT. What was I doing?! Oh my gosh.

All of this was racing through my mind but one thing that stood out was "I like Harry now."

"Uh Mads?"

"Oh sorry. What were you saying? You like someone.. Else?"

"Yeah." He responded. "It's Emma."

Then somebody stabbed me in the gut. Okay, that didn't happen but it sure felt like it! I turned away quickly to escape a tear coming out of my eye. I couldn't understand why this is such a big deal. I I have pretty much liked Haz since last night. How can this affect me so much? Could this have been building up for some time now? Yeah, that's it. I must have liked him for so long, but I ignored it. What have I done? I've ruined everything, I'm sure.

"So, Maddie.. What do you think?"

"I think you two are great together! We just have to find out if- if she likes you too." I choked the last part out. It pained me to say it. How could I help Harry get someone else, when I was crushing so hard on him?

"Oh, thank goodness you're alright with it." Harry breathed a sigh of relief. "I was afraid you wouldn't approve since she's your friend and all..."

"Um of course not..."

Harry smiled to himself, happy with the conversation.

"So Mads, how's your love life? Still in love with Shaneeeee?" He said the last part all goofy making me grin.

"What? Oh uh yeah I guess." Of course I had to tell Harry I liked Shane still. I couldn't let him know that I had moved on, right?

"Maddie, were here! Lets go!"

I opened the car door slowly, a little shaky from the past conversation. Harry waited for me on the sidewalk and grabbed my hand to pull me into the restaurant. There was that spark again. How could he not feel it?

Harry and I stepped into Suzy's restaurant and were enveloped by the cozy, red and black, diner feel.

Harry approached the manager. "There are two people waiting for us... Oh there they are!" Harry pointed towards the corner.

I turned towards the corner that Harry was pointing to to find a couple making out. I gasped when I saw that it wasn't just a couple, it was Shane Mason and some hoe, I'm sure.

Harry noticed at the same time as me and grabbed by arm.

"Mads.."

"It's fine, Harry. Really."

Harry stomped over to Shane and tapped on his shoulder. I stared at Harry, awestruck at what he was about to do.

"Hey man, some of us are trying to eat. So I'd appreciate you not slobbering all over some girl-" Harry immediately stopped telling Shane off when he realized that this wasn't just a random hoe. It was Emma.
