Anakin angrily texted Ahsoka as rain began to pour and hammer on the windows in his room. Ahsoka liked the rain, he remembered. Winter was her favorite season, unlike Anakin's, which was Spring. As he tried to do his complicated math homework, Artoo and Threepio were rolling around on his bed. Artoo was batting a spare pencil around as Threepio was looking at him a superior-like way.
"Ani, where's your sister?" asked Shmi, his mother, from downstairs. Shmi Skywalker was probably the best mom in the world, Anakin thought. She was hardworking, but made sure that her kids had the best life possible.
"I don't know, Mom!" he yelled back as looked at his phone. None of the texts were even read. "I've texted her a ton. I'm gonna try calling her."
Anakin didn't wait for his mother's reply and dialed her number. For a moment, he was scared that something really bad had happened and Ahsoka was hurt or sick. However, she picked up after two rings. "Ahsoka, where even are you?" he asked furiously, with a hint of relief in his tone. "Mom is worried and so am I!"
"How long has it been?" Ahsoka asked from the other side, yawning.
"Two hours!" he snapped, opening his math book and looking over the complicated explanation that the textbook provided. Professor Windu used that, but to Anakin it was a bunch of mathematical mumbo-jumbo that no one who wasn't short of a pure genius could understand. "C'mon, Snips, I need help with math. I'll explain the concept to you. Or try at least"
"Sorry I wasn't picking up. My phone was buried like, really deep in my pocket and it was on silent for the school day anyways," Ahsoka apologized.
"Where are you, anyways? Why are you there instead of here?" Anakin asked as he wrestled with Artoo for the pencil and succeed in pulling out of the puppy's jaws. Artoo yipped at Anakin angrily as Anakin stroked his soft ears.
"Me, Rex, and the rest of the girls got caught in the rain on our way home from the park. I'm at the Fett's- it was closest and we were doing homework and then watched a movie," Ahsoka explained.
"Why were you even in the park, anyways? Actually, never mind," Anakin said as he settled down on the bed and readied his mind (and his hand) for the concept. "Now, can you help me with homework. You're ahead in math, right? Good because I need to understand this topic. Like, now."
He explained it to her and she helped him finish it up, while still making it painfully obvious that he was going to have to learn it himself for his end-of-the-year exams. They were working on the last problem when Ahsoka cut off sharply. "Anakin, I have to go. It's important."
"Why?" he asked. But she had already hung up. "Come on, really Snips?" he asked his phone as the screen reading CALL ENDED in big, red letters glowered up at him.
Over at the Fett's, the cluster of Fett brothers were looking out the window that was wet from raindrops. Ahsoka got up and joined them, along with Bo-Katan, Fennec, Koska, and Ursa. "What's happening?" she asked Rex. "Why-?"
"Dad," Rex whispered, a lump forming in his throat. A man with short dark brown hair dressed in a dark grey and blue sweatshirt got out of a car with a boy the same age as Rex that had brown hair and was dressed in dark green. The boy had a fierce snarl on his face and had dark brown hair. With the gold eyes and the hair color, he was clearly a kid of Jango Fett.
"Oh," she breathed. Rex had never told her how he and her brothers had come to be raised by Plo and Shaak. But then, she had never told him why she was adopted by Shmi. It was an unsaid thing between them- most kids that had been bouncing around in foster care since a young age didn't want to talk about their past. And even if they did, they never were directly to the point- more a brief summary of why they were adopted.
The man, Jango Fett, passed straight by the house and Ahsoka could hear what he was saying faintly. "C'mon, son," Jango said to the other boy. The boy smiled at his father as they walked towards someone.... Ventress!
Ahsoka inhaled sharply. She hated Ventress with a passion and couldn't believe what was happening then. Asajj Ventress was a merciless and cold person who was pretty much a female version of the Grinch, but she never tried to steal Christmas or turned good.
"So this is the boy, then?" Ventress asked distastefully. She had pale, almost bone-white skin that was marked with purple tattoos and she had a thin veil of white-blonde hair that covered her otherwise-bare skull. "Boba, isn't it?" Boba Fett nodded and held his head high, glaring.
"How can he just do that?" Fives asked in disgust as he watched the trio. "Just abandon his other sons and keep one with him at all times?"
"Shh," Echo said angrily as he scolded his twin. "I want to hear."
"Boba, I'll be back in a few weeks. Ventress-" Jango said kindly to his son as Ventress cut him off. The other Fett brothers were glaring at their biological father with such intense hatred, it was a wonder that Jango didn't drop dead then and there.
"I know," the girl spat, shaking her short blonde hair and walking off, Boba Fett trailing behind her. They disappeared around a dark corner and towards the place where Ventress lived. Everyone knew the general direction where she lived, but no one knew where.
Ahsoka grabbed her stuff, hoping to get out of the awkward situation as quickly as possible. "Bye Rex," she said as the rain let up. The grey clouds were clearing and a faint hint of rays of sunlight could be see.
"Bye, Ahsoka," Rex replied absentmindedly as she walked out of the house and down the street to her own home.
A/N:
Sorry for not updating sooner. I don't have a set schedule, but I try to do it around four to five days apart, but they might be a little slower because I'm running out of pre-written chapters to use. Also, I was out of town and unable to update, so that's why I didn't update sooner.
Thank you to everyone who has voted and commented. It means so much to me!
