•Callie's POV•

The violent wind from the brewing storm makes my long white dress flow behind me as I walk through the dense forest.

Lost, my eyes stare straight ahead and I have no control of my feet. I just push on, leading my body to a place I don't even know.

A drop of rain hits my forehead, making me stop in my tracks, I close my eyes as it runs down my face. When it drips off my chin I tilt my head down and slowly open my eyes.

Red clouds my vision, I stare at my blood-stained hands and my breathing starts to get heavier. I see red dripping down my snow-white dress, staining the fine material.

I turn around frantically, searching for something; anything.

That's when I see the red trail behind me, where I was walking.

A loud rumble of thunder sounds close by, it makes the ground vibrate, moving up my legs and into my chest.

I scream.

"Happy birthday sleepy head!" Mum and dad shout, waking me up from my restless slumber.

I sit up instantly and take a deep breath.

Mum laughs, "Are you okay honey?"

I wipe the thin sheet of sweat from my forehead, "Yeah, you guys just scared me."

They smile at each other and high-five.

I glare at them and then dad shoves a small box wrapped in birthday wrapping into my hands.

I flinch a little, staring at my hands, very clean and very blood-free.

It was just a dream. It was just a dream.

I roll my eyes at them, pushing aside that dream for a moment, "I told you I didn't want anything."

Mum rolls her eyes back at me, "And I told you we wouldn't listen."

I can't stop the smile appearing on my face and I unwrap the gift, my jaw drops when I stare at a brand new Nikon D5300.

"This is too much!" I exclaim.

Dad waves me off, "You deserve it, we've seen how much you love taking photos, but that old camera you've had for years just isn't going to cut it anymore."

I shake my head, "You guys suck, but I love you." I jump over and hug them.

They both kiss the side of my head and hug me back, "Love you too sweety. Now I think Abby was planning on taking you out." Mum says.

I nod, "She promised me a run."

Dad stands up, "Sorry girls, duty calls. I'll see you later birthday girl." He says and scrunches up my hair as he leaves, I don't mind too much this time as I just woke up.

"So, are you seeing anyone else today?" Mum asks, raising her eyebrows.

I instantly know who she's talking about.

I shake my head and stand up, "Probably not. But I am staying at Abby's house tonight."

"Just remember you're there for Abby," She smirks, "I'll see you later." She says as she walks out the door.

I roll my eyes and smile, grabbing some clothes and taking a quick shower. I just change into some nice high-waisted ripped jeans and a baggy t-shirt that says 'purrfection' with a face of a cat on it which I tuck in. I don't know why I love this shirt the way I do, maybe it's just the pun that grabbed my attention.
