•Callie's POV•
I know I shouldn't be, but I've been trying to avoid Cason for most of the school day.
Of course, I know that won't last long, since we have free period together.
Walking into the room, I see he's not here yet so I just take my seat and start my homework.
He comes in almost straight after, heading for my desk. Sitting in front of me, I can feel his stare on me as I try to continue my work.
I sigh, realising I can't get out of this one and look up.
He looks almost stressed, the creases on his forehead look like he's had a frown on his face the whole day and it instantly makes me feel bad.
"I'm sorry." He begins, "I don't know exactly what for, and I don't know whether I should feel bad about that or not, but I am a guy, and unfortunately I don't pick up on everything."
I can't help but smile a little in amusement.
"But I want you to talk to me about it, because I'm here to listen, and to support everything you say and do." He says.
I widen my smile, "Thank you. I'm sorry too for going off at you. It's just..." I trail off, looking away.
"What is it?" He asks, bringing my attention back to him.
I sigh, "Not many people understand when I tell them this, Abby is the only one who really gets it."
"I have an open-mind." He reassures me.
"Well," I start, "School matters to me, more than most werewolves at my level, mainly because I want to go somewhere with my life. I don't want to just be a Luna stuck ordering duties and running a pack, I want to be someone that goes somewhere with their life, and school is the place that I can make that happen."
He thinks deeply for a second, "So the main reason you went off at me was because I was saying that school doesn't matter, wasn't it?"
I sigh, "I'm really sorry, I handled it wrong, I know."
He takes my hand, "It's alright, I understand now. I want you to know that just talking to me about things is the easiest way for us to avoid things like this, I want you to feel like you can tell me everything."
I give an humoured laugh, "Well, I've obviously done a great job of that already."
"Callie." He warns.
"I'm just not very good at this whole mate thing. I'll admit, I wasn't really ready to find my mate just yet. But you're just so great and caring and everything a girl could want, I'm trying the best I can." I say.
He smiles, "You're doing a great job, we're both in the same boat here alright?"
I nod and gives him a smile.
"Excuse me Luna." A girl from the school newspaper comes up to the table, I think her name is Crystal. She glances at me and Cason's joined hands before looking back to me.
I slowly unwrap my hand from his, "Hey, it's Crystal right? And please, just call me Callie."
She nods and smiles, "That's right. The school fundraiser is this weekend, the annual fair. Anyway, the team were looking at the pictures you did earlier this year for the drama production and we would love it if you could take photos. We know you're busy with Luna work and everything but-"
"I'd love to." I smile.
Her eyes widen, "Really? Oh, it would mean so much!"
I nod, "Of course, I just got a new camera for my birthday I'm dying to use."
