•Callie's POV•

"This is so confusing!" I groan in frustration as I stare at the chess table.

Cason rolls his eyes, "You're just starting, calm down."

We were currently sitting crossed-legged in front of the chess board Cason had brought with him in the park after school, and he was currently attempting to teach me how to play.

Keyword being attempting.

The air had a cool bite to it, I'd made sure to wear my warm jumper today.

I rest my elbows on my knees and drop my head into my hands, "How are you being so patient?"

He chuckles, "Because, believe it or not, I was in your position once."

I stifle a laugh and give him a look, "Don't let all that ego get to your head now."

He just smirks at me, "Me? Egotistical? Never."

I reach over and pretend to feel his head in my hands, "Yep, growing by the second."

He rolls his eyes and grabs my hands, taking each to his lips and gently kissing my knuckles.

Happiness runs through my body as I watch him, I can't help the smile that tugs at my lips.

"Okay, so while you guys are being sickly lovey-dovey, I think we have bigger problems on our hand." Abby says, coming over and sitting down.

I pull my hands out of Cason's, who gives Abby a glare.

She responds by holding up her hands, "Hey, blame the Moon Goddess not me."

I had updated Cason about Abby finding out her mate was Jarrod. He was torn about what to do, but he said he understood what she was going through.

"Well, I guess you'll just have to tell him." I say.

Abby shakes her head, "I don't know if I can. There's so many things that could go wrong."

"What else do you plan to do?" Cason asks.

She looks down, "I could just reject him."

I give her a look, "Right, so you're just going to go up to him, quickly say 'I reject you as my mate' and then walk away. Abby, I don't think that's going to work."

She groans and falls back so she's lying on the grass, "It's so hard, and I can't get him out of my head. He's just so dreamy and gorgeous and strong and-"

"Alright, alright. We get it." I interrupt her.

She smiles at me sheepishly, "Sorry."

She goes back to looking up at the sky and sighs in doubt. It's then that an idea comes into my head, I look to Cason and talk through mind-link.

"What if I talk to him?" I say.

He gives me a look as though I've just eaten the skin of an orange, "Absolutely not."

"Come on Cason, look at her. Jarrod and I have been getting along well, at least he'll think I'm the crazy one and not her if he doesn't believe me." I reply.

He stills looks in disagreement, "Callie, you're a tiger not a werewolf. He's going to want proof, and that's even more dangerous than if you were a werewolf."

"Then come with me." I say, pleading him with my eyes.

He takes a deep breath, analysing my words.

"Hello? Earth to the lovebirds? I get that you're obsessed with each other, but there's no need to stare at each other all the time." Abby interrupts.
