A Christmas Wish Come True (part ll)

Chapter Twenty One

Amelia's POV:

I give a muffled scream as i hit the cold hard ground.

"AMI!"  I hear Maria sob as she goes on her knees to me. 

I feel my chest feeling like someone is stabbing  me a million times.  I feel like I'm dying.  Which,  knowing my luck,  I probably am. 

My vision swims as i stare into Maria's beautiful green eyes. 

"Please don't leave." Maria whispers,  her eyes filling with tears.

I gaze into her eyes.  I know this'll probably be the last time I'll be able to in a very long time.  "I....I love you."  I whisper with the rest of the strength I have.

Maria just starts sobbing as she whispers.  "I love you too.  More than you'll ever know." 

I just smile weakly at her.  I close my eyes after gazing into hers and everything goes dark.

"Amy,  she's waking up!"  I hear a familiar voice saying softly and quietly.

I open my eyes weakly.  I see myself in a room full of white.  It's super bright so I close my eyes tightly from the light.  I hear someone flick the light off and it goes dark again.  I open my eyes slowly then look around.

"Oh,  my love."  I hear the familiar voice say.  I look over and see Maria besides me starring down at me with tears in her eyes.  A small smile is etched across her face.

I try to speak.  I can't.  It's too hard.  So I just stare at her,  blinking my eyes slowly at her telling her silently I know she's there. 

"Hey Amelia."  I hear another familiar voice whisper on the other side of me.  I slowly turn my head.  I see Amy with a man.  He has green eyes and a green hoodie.  He has pale skin and is smiling weakly at me.  It's Owen.  I look down at Amy's arm and see Owen's hand holding hers.  I make a small noise and my lips  try for a smile. 

I feel a hand go gently to my head and run their fingers through my hair.  I look over again at my beautiful girlfriend. 

I stare at her with a small smile playing at my lips.  After a few seconds I felt someone's hand rest gently on my shin.  I look down and see my parents smiling at me.  I see my mom has tears in her eyes and my father smiling at me. I smile back happy to see all of them.  But,  after a moment,  my smile fades and my expression turns to complete confusion.  "Wh-what happened?"  I croak. 

Maria looks at me and is holding my hand,  so she holds it tighter.  "You went into a coma,  after your treatments,  you went into a coma for a year." 

"Wh-what?"  I look at her.

"What h-happened to Josh?" 

"Josh?"  Maria asks, her face full of concern and worry for me.  "My ex?" 

"Yeah." I whisper.

"Honey,  let's get you some water."  My mom says,  giving me some water.  When the water goes down my throat,  it feels so good.  I chug down all the water and then lay back,  my throat not hurting as much.  "Thanks mom." 

My mom smiles at me and let's me speak again. 

"Maria."  I look at Maria.  "What happened to Josh?" 

"Well."  Maria starts.

"He got put behind bars because he was caught trying to murder a person." Amy says. 

"What?"  I say. 

"Ami."  Maria whispers.  I turn, looking at her.  "What do you remember?" 

I take a deep breath.  "I remember dying.  I died during a treatment.  After that I went to heaven then met some Greek god named Eros,  then I met his wife Psyche.  After I talked with them for a very long time I managed to go back down to earth to you and Amy.  When I got there,  Amy was trying to take Maria away from me and me and Amy had a fight at prom.  After prom we made up and found out that Maria was getting captured by Josh and his gang.  We went and saved Maria and left.  I fell asleep and then woke up from that dream finding out that I had three more days till I would go back to heaven.  During that time Amy went somewhere then came back then we started talking about how we could find Josh and his gang.  I remembered seeing his licence plate while chasing him.  After that we went and chased Josh and his gang for three days.  That first day me and Maria cuddled in the backseat of a car because we got tired from chasing him and we met Owen who was just walking around the streets.  After that we went to go find Josh and then this person started telling me what to do,  so I kept vomiting.  After that me and Maria got  cornered by Josh and his gang.  Josh started talking to Maria then shot his gun.  I stepped in front of it then got shot instead of Maria.  Then I stared into Maria's beautiful eyes and i closed my eyes and everything went dark.  Then I woke up here.  Is this even real?" 

Everyone exchanges nervous glances to one another.  Maria finally looks back at me.  "Well,  that didn't happen.  What really happened was that you were about to die,  then as you were dying they said they could keep you alive by keeping you in a coma for awhile hoping you'd wake up,  and clearly,  it worked.  But,  I really haven't done much over the past year.  I rarely do my job anymore,  but my boss Mrs.  Adair was so kind to keep me working there  but put me on unemployment for the time being.  I'm so glad I've been happily with my true love even if she couldn't hear me."  She leans in and kisses me on the cheek.  "I missed you so much."  A tear trickles down her cheek, but she smiles down at me. 

I stare up at her and whisper.  "I missed you too."  I look over and see Amy and Owen smiling at me.  "What have you two  been up to?" 

They both blush deeply,  Amy answers.  "Well at first i still felt awful about your death.  You know, not being there and everything."  Her smile fades slightly.  "But,  after about a month or two I was walking home and I found Owen.  Me and Owen started talking then after about a week he asked me out on a date and we've been together ever since.."

And to prove her point,  Owen smiles weakly and nods,  leaning over and kissing Amy on the cheek making her giggle quietly. 

I just smile weakly,  looking at my parents.  "What have you two been up to?" 

"Oh not much."  My father says.  "We come check up  on you at least twice a week.  Maria's been here really all the time,  she basically lives here now."  My father chuckles as he gestures to a small stretcher in the corner of the room where Maria has all of her things in bags. 

I look at Maria.  "Really?" 

Maria blushes slightly and she nods. 

I manage to slowly lean up and kiss her.  I couldn't have ever asked for a better girlfriend.  She's been here for me when I needed her and she's been here when I needed her.

Sometimes,  nightmares are nightmares, not reality.  But,  what we have for reality  is what we have.  So make the best of it.  Keep life going.  Even when it might seem hard.  You have the ones you love.  Like,  for me,  Amy,  Owen, my parents,  and my beautiful girlfriend.  Don't ever give up on those you care about the most,  because they'll be the ones there for you forever.
