A Christmas Wish Come True (part ll)

Chapter Sixteen

Amy's POV:

"Dang it!"

My eyes flutter open to see Owen waking up too.  Maria looks furious while Amelia's trying to calm her down. 

"Maybe we should stop Maria."  Amelia says calmly with a worried expression on her face.

"No!"  She says as she honks the horn loudly at a driver.

Amelia leans over and kisses Maria on the cheek softly, holding her hand tightly.  When Amelia did this, Maria's expression softens and her body relaxes slightly.  "Sorry."  Maria whispers.

*It's okay my love, just pull over and Amy will drive while we cuddle." Amelia says. 

Maria nods and she stops the car, pulling into a empty parking lot.

"Get out." Maria states to Owen.

"What? Why?"; He asks curiously.

*Because me and my girlfriend are gonna cuddle while you help Amy with the car."  She states again flatly. 

Amelia goes behind Maria and wraps her arms around Maria's waist, kissing maria on the cheek.  "Owen...just go in passengers seat..."  She yawns as she says it, laying her head on Maria's shoulder.

Maria gives me the keys and has me get in the driver's seat.  Owen quickly gets out and grabs Maria's phone while he buckles. 

Maria sits in the backseat heavily as she lets out a soft sigh.  Amelia slowly crawls inside with Maria and shuts the door.  Amelia curls into Maria's lap and falls asleep in her arms,  maria holding her tightly as she slowly falls asleep too.

"Go right."  Owen tells me quietly. 

I turn right gently.  I don't want to wake up Maria or Amelia.  I want them to just worry about themselves for the next few days.  I really hope that she'll be able to stay.  I don't want to see Maria go down again.  She's so happy now that Amelia's back  but now that we know Amelia's back, Maria's been so happy.  But now,  Amelia will be leaving again,  and since Maria saw Amelia again,  she was getting better.   But now,  Maria might go down harder than before. 

"What's wrong?"  Owen asks,  making me shake out of my thoughts.

"Just...worried,  that's all." 

"About what?"  He looks concerned. 

"Amelia and Maria."  I say.

"What about Maria and Amelia?"  He asks.

I take a shaky breath.  "So,  remember me telling you about Amelia...dying?"  My voice was so shaky and quiet that it was a whisper. 

I felt his hand go to my shoulder and slowly trail down my arm.  I glance down at my right hand,  seeibg his on the steering wheel and on top of my hand.  His hand slowly wrapping around mine, holding it tightly.  I let my right hand let go of the steering wheel and hold his hand after a moment. 

"Yes."  He says after a moment. 

"Well, as you can see, she came back.  She came back...somehow.  We don't know how,  but she did.  We saved Maria and all that,  but, last night,  we found out that she only has three days.  So,  after tonight she'll only have two.  But,  we want to get this guy named Josh..."

"Josh?"  He asks. 

"Yeah."  I say,  slightly awkwardly.  I never said anything about Josh.  I only said that he was a mean ex boyfriend of Maria's. 

"Is his name Josh Mccann?"

My eyes widen when I stare at him,  but I quickly look back at the road.  "Yes,  do you know him?"

His hand stiffens up slightly.  "Just a friend from highschool.  We don't talk anymore." 

"Mh." I say.

We sat in silence for a few minutes.  But, even though he seemed worried,  he was still holding my hand. 

"Take a small left."  He tells me.  At the next stop sign, I take a left.

We reach a diner.  I gasp quietly when I know it's the diner that me and Amelia used to go to.  It's also the one that I kissed Maria at. 

"Come on." He says quietly.  "Aren't you hungry?" 

I shook my head.  "No,  i'm not."  But sadly, to my surprise, my stomach growls loudly in protest as i stop the car. 

He stifled a laugh.  *Come on,  we'll lock the car and they'll have a set of keys so they'll be fine.  Plus thease windows are pretty tinted anyway, I think they'll be alright.  Also,  I'm paying." He smirks at me.  I feel my face burn but I smile shyly back at him.   

"Okay."  I say after a moment."but, shouldn't we tell them...?"

He shakes his head.  "No.  You said yourself,  you want them to spend as much time as they can together.  We should just leave them be.  Plus if Maria and Amelia get too worried, they'll be able to call you,  see?"  He puts Maria's phone right besides Maria and Amelia so they'll be able to see it.  "Perfect." 

I nod slightly.  "Okay." 

We walk inside.  Halfway to the diner entrance,  he grabs my hand.  He gently laces our fingers together, giving me a sideways glance.  I feel my face burn once more but a small smile go across my lips.  He's so beautiful.  His sea green eyes are so handsome there's just a thing I want to do... I want to kiss him.

No.  I thought to myself.  I don't deserve to be happy.  Also,  Owen shouldn't have to deal with a girl like me.  I'll probably end up hurting him anyway.
With that thought on my mind,  my smile fades.

He glances at me again.  I feel him squeeze my hand comfortingly.  "Come on." He says softly.  He walks into the diner,  and I follow.
