In the morning you woke up and walked into the kitchen where your mother was drinking a cup of tea. Or what you believed to be tea because you couldn't smell coffee.

"Good morning." She greeted you in between sips of her tea.

"Morning." You replied as you went to the fridge to search for something to fill your empty stomach.

"What time did you get home last night?" Your mother asks, turning to face you.

"I don't know, somewhere around 1am I think." You closed the fridge door, not being able to find anything particularly appetizing in the moment. You turned to face her.

"Well message me next time you plan on staying late, okay? I get worried." She pats your H/C, H/L hair.

"Yeppers." You reply. Your mother grins.

"Okay, now get ready for school."

"Yep." You turn away going to get ready but then remember. "Actually I have something I want to tell you." You added. Your mother gave you an intrigued look, and leaned back on the kitchen counter.

"Okay, what is it?" She enquired.

"After my first day at Karasuno, I started seeing the colour orange, and after studying with my friend yesterday I started to see more colours." You said, looking warily at her. You didn't want to bring back bad memories of your father.

Your mother and father were soulmates. They started seeing colours after they met so they got together, got married and had you. Sadly, a few years afterwards your father got sick and died of lung cancer. He never smoked but was exposed to second hand smoke his whole life, since his parents and his friends smoked. It eventually led to problems and he passed away from it.

You didn't know him well since you were only three when he passed on, but you were told he was a really funny man.

Afterwards your mother lost all abilities to see colour, and was left alone to take care of a toddler, so you've always been grateful for the life you were given.

"Oh honey that's amazing!" She flung her arms around you in a squishy hug. You hugged her back. After what felt like a good whole minute, she released you. "Who's the person?" She asked.

"It's a boy in my class, Hinata Shoyo. I met him when he threw a volleyball and it accidentally hit my face, he apologized and now we're friends." You explained.

"So how'd you see colour?" Your mom enquired, cocking her eyebrow.

"When he tried to help me up from the ground, I realized I could see that his hair was orange."

"Wow." your mother breathed. She stood there with tears welling up in her eyes. "This is great," She suddenly grabbed you and started pushing you towards your bedroom. "But now go get ready for school or you're going to be late."

"Okay, Okay," You began, "I get it." You laughed and struggled to get out of her grip.

When you did, you got ready for school in your uniform, and headed out towards the street. Your mom was waiting in the car. She usually drove you to school, and you walked home yourself.

She worked from about 4pm to 11pm or 12am usually. She's a waitress at a night club so she works later but she always finds odd jobs to do in the day since she doesn't need another job, so she's always been able drive you to school.

When you finally got to school, you saw Hinata bouncing all over the place talking to Kageyama. It was busy by the front doors, so they almost didn't notice as you approached them. But you caught a bit of what they were talking about.

"Yeah! I could see their E/C eyes. I've never seen colours! Kageyama what does this meaaaaaaan." At this point he had grabbed Kageyama by the shoulders and was shaking him around. Kageyama pushed him off.

"Maybe it's the soulmate thingie. I don't know." Kageyama replied with a scowl.

"We-," Hinata started then stopped when he noticed you had seemingly appeared next to the two.

"Hi guys!" You waved at them, and smiled. You were pretty sure they were talking about you, but anyone could have E/C eyes.

"Um hi Y/N." Hinata replied giving you a smile in return.

"Sorry if I'm intruding on your conversation."

"No it's fine. It wasn't anything important." Kageyama replied. Hinata was about to say something to him but didn't because the bell rang and the three of you headed inside.
