It was terrifying.

You cannot understand how terrifying it is until you are in the same situation.

And when you are...

You'll wish more than anything that you weren't,

And you would do anything to get out of it.

Anything.

The morning dawned as innocent and bright as possible. More so, in fact.
Peter had been up for hours with Orieus and his second-in-command, plotting and planning. Today was the day. Finally, he would get to see Evelyn again. A smile crept across his face as he slid into his armor, the clang of metal on metal shaking the last of the sleep away. behind him, Edmund did the same. Peter had been reluctant to let him come along, but Ed had insisted that he was a part of the mission. They stepped out of the tent, sending a nod to Susan as she joined them, the crisp, dew dropped grass crunching under their feet. None of them said a word as they made their way to the fluttering flaps that were the entrance to the battle tent. Everything seemed peaceful and still, like the calm before the storm. It was a simple mission, they should be back before lunch, but there was still that feeling of foreboding, hanging around them like a nasty insect.

Two dozen troops stood outside the tent, waiting for Orieus to tell them it was time to go. It wasn't many for an invasion, but, as said before, it was a simple mission. The three Pevensies entered the tent, nodding to Orieus, Hadre, and Noah.

"Are we ready to go?" Peter questioned. He was impatient, anyone could see it.

"Now that you are here, your majesties." The second in command (a fox named Zorro) smiled.

"Sorry," Susan apologised. "We didn't mean to keep you waiting."

"It is no problem." Orieus joined in, moving to stand by the entrance of the tent. "Now, we should hurry if we want to get there in time."

"Get there in time for what?" a small, confused voice spoke up, pushing aside the flaps of the tent that Orieus had been standing so close to seconds ago.

"Luce?" several voices questioned.

"I told you to be quiet!" Peter scolded Susan.

"I was!" Susan defended.

"Don't blame her. I was already awake." Lucy glared around the room. "Now answer me. In time for what?"

"Lu," Noah started. "Do you remember when Ed was with the witch? Remember how much you wanted him back?"

"Yeah?"

"Well, it's kind of l-"

"Wait." Lucy's eyes widened. "Are you going to get Evelyn? Can I come? Can I-"

"No." Peter's voice was harsh. "No way."

"Lu, I promise that, one day, you will get to fight in battles far greater than this." Noah rubbed the little girl's arm, saddened by the tears that pooled in her eyes. "But today, we need you here. You will get to see Evelyn, but right now, you have to stay."

It looked like she was on the brink of arguing, but all Lucy said was.

"Be careful. Good luck. And don't you dare come back without her!" before she turned and made her way back to her tent.

"Your majesties," Orieus held open the tent. "We should go."

With one last glance, the four royals and the warrior took off, determination filling them as they mounted their horses, and rode towards the witch's camp.
